    Windows 10

I checked around 11 PM my time and finally it arrived on my updater...just completed it and it took 1 1/2 hours from start to completion...seemed to have gone smoothly...I guess they have to roll this big upgrade out in "waves" to prevent their servers from getting jammed, which is understandable, of course...

I had considered doing it using the forced upgrade with the new iso, but glad i had some patience and waited
I'll explore the changes and see if it seems to perform better, over the weekend...

What I have read is this: early next year Microsoft will step up the pressure by 'recommending' the free upgrade, which is presumably an upgrade to a build that is current at that point in time. I hope their increase in self-confidence is based on a corresponding increase of the quality of that build

MS wants to phase out 8.1 already putting a stop to anything with 7 on it and won't mention 8 at all! They intend to have everyone on the same page which simply won't happen. Since 8 flopped and 8.1 didn't become a big seller their option now is to push 10 wherever and whenever possible!

As far as getting the RTM flavor of the 10586 build which is slightly reworked in not showing things like version number or OS build number which is the norm for the retail market you can grab that in just a few minutes time using the Media Creation tool and save download 10 as many times and in each flavor as well as both editions in single edition or dual ISO image downloads. Here all I need now is the two in 32bit while I can still update the 4 in 1 media that was made up.

As for the Enterprise edition that is through the MS TechNet or MSDN download pages for that being the corporate not home or office editions seen with the MC tool options. Actually you see Home, Home N if you had 7 HP N, 8 Home N, or 8.1 N, Pro, Pro N for the 7, 8 , 8.1 flavors, and Home Single Language edition as the five choices! The Single Language is 32bit only there however while the others come in both flavors(32bit or 64bit).

Somewhere I read that with Windows 10 Fall Update (10586) one can use the Windows 7 and 8.1 key to activate Windows 10.
No need to go through installing 7 or 8.1 first and from there on upgrade to 10.

I vainly tried to find whether
    a. I do a totally clean install using the USB/DVD (created by media creation tool)
    b. this will still be valid after the 1 year free upgrade. I assume the 7/8.1key will nót be valid anymore after 1 year (whilst they can still be used for Windows 7 or 8.1 installations)

I suppose these keys can best be used for virtual machine purposes: one can create snapshots of Windows 10 'clean installs' (based on w7/8.10keys) and restore those snapshots if necessary, also after a year.

Use the MC tool and save the "Windows.iso" to a folder on the drive outside of the usual User folders downloads, documents, etc. that won't get packed up into the Windows.old folder which will appear once the upgrade takes place. You simply right click to mount the download to begin the upgrade type of install. Windows 10

As far the recommended clean install the MC will make up the flash drive Installation key or burn the single not dual flavor iso to a blank dvd-r disk if you can't boot live from a flash drive for a clean install.

Another problem that will stall any 10 install is having an extra storage drive plugged in! That will end up seeing the boot files and temp install folder placed on the wrong drive and ran into that here spending a full of July 29 with trying to solve that one until reviewing the clean install guide!

With the 10586 I have a Pro VM activated on the main build and a second Home VM activated on the second desktop. Both saw a 7 key used there. Yet the download just seen won't using the same key on the same machine. I believe this is now good if you should end up buying or have bought a 10 key as to why the second VM saw an error with a key from a previous version. I am sitll wating however to see if the VM activates itself however with the Digital entitlement process already having seen the physical 10586 Pro install upgrade over the previous 10 install activate.

As for the Enterprise question a little more on that shows you have to sign up for the Volume licensing Service Center in order to download that edition. Remember that's corporate not home user as to why that wouldn' be an option seen with the MC tool. Sign in to the Volume Licensing Service Center to download Enterprise editions.

As for the other Education edition, Visit the Download Academic Products page for Education editions (product key required). All this is seen on the 10 page found at: Windows 10

    Seems so.
I have a Samsung laptop which upgraded to Win 10 earlier this year when 10 first came out and it got the new update yesterday. I also have a Surface Pro3 which is only a few weeks old. It got the new update today. So my guess is the roll-out of the new update may be phased in according to when your device was first upgraded to Win 10.
    I hope that makes sense.

Both updates went smoothly and fairly quickly. I had to update a couple of Bluetooth drivers via device manager though.
