Thanks and I appreciate your testing results. I feel 30% faster is an exaggerated figure, but there are no references to anything in the article nor from MS themselves. I'd simply like to see there testing results to make such a claim. I'll remain in limbo otherwise.

I take it you tested this on your "upgraded" 2010 HP P7 Desktop? "Upgraded" meaning it is not a OEM stock machine? Will you be testing it on your other machines you mention in your specs by any chance?

OTOH, so far as "speed" with 8's, 8.1's, and 10's OS approach with navigational means, Starts, searching, preloaded MS Store apps, virtual desktops (10), and other features makes them heads-over-heels far quicker at performing work/tasks and gaining/seeing personal data. 7 was a great OS for it's time, no doubt, but old tech so far as new features I just mentioned in the others IMO.
I wont be testing the variance on the other PC's here .I would need to have windows 10 x64 and Windows 7 x64 on the same NTFS hdd to get valid comparisons . The other two are on on 10586.3 no more win 7 x64 for them (or this one ) and the 7 x64 workstation hdd isn't getting another OS on it unless it migrates to Windows 10 altogether at some point .

The only difference would be likely minor but statistically valid percentage wise unless you dropped both OS onto an SSD that would improve the hdd I/O throughput but again the variance might hold up .

We tested this on several different configurations (some were pretty elaborate ) on Windows Insider forums with similar results a long time ago it's been like that since Windows 10 test build 10029 that we know of we also noted multiple file enumeration is slower in windows 10.

I have the same test results for all the Insider builds since 10029 and the results are similar .

Hopefully Microsoft will have the problems ironed out for them, but don't hold your breath.

FWIW, I just let Windows Update do the update on Lappy 17 and all went well.
My fingers and toes are crossed!! How long did the process take via Windows Updates?

Around an hour. Of course, the CPU and amount of RAM will influence the time required.

Cant say outside of the Insider builds. This time around I used the MCT direct install on the other 2 W10 PC's here and this one on the other NTFS volume. It probably took 45 minutes all in all but I wasn't paying attention .

I've still been checking my updater and the upgrade hasn't popped up yet...says i am up to date...Is this being sent out in waves?
I'm tempted to just use the upgrading feature of the windows 10 media tool, but was trying to have some patience and wait for it to arrive in the updates...
Since win 10 became available I have found that using the media tool and selecting the upgrade my computer now option have worked out the best for me and that includes the current upgrade.

    Welcome to TenForums, Scrimper!

I don't know why the language barrier was there, so I'll leave that for others to answer.

I downloaded the Media Creation Tool to my hard drive and then installed it on a Flash Drive. As you were, you are offered the option of "upgrade this PC" or "Create Installation Media for Another PC".

When you create the installation media for another PC, you can use either a flash drive or a DVD drive. Further, you can now update however many PCs you need to. You can even go to your neighbor's house and update his PC if you're so inclined.
Many thanks for replying and the welcome.

I'm concerned for those that will be getting the TH2 via normal system updates (eventually). I've upgraded several relations and friends' machines to W10 since August and just hope this all proves easy and straight-forward for them - I expect I might get a few emails/calls crying "Help!"
Yeah, looking at the problems in this thread, I would say that TH2 for Windows 10 is less mature than SP1 was for previous versions of Windows.

    I wonder when TH3, TH4, ... will be as mature as SP1, SP2, ... were.

By July 2016 before the free year is over? Or thereafter?

Someone on another forum said they read somewhere that the update only shows up once and if it fails will never show again, not sure how correct it is.
This does not seem to agree with what I'm seeing on my only machine that currently shows the update. I have already tried installing it three times and it failed every time. However, after each failure it shows again (and appears to download itself again from scratch).
