What does that mean? I got no error messages. I went back about 10 minutes later to check for it and WU found nothing.

    What do I do now?
You can wait or use the Media Creation Tool from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/soft...load/windows10

Or download the .iso from here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/9...-download.html

I did that but disk cleanup does not show those folders. Also windows.old is still on the computer. I'll leave the ESD folder alone for now.

    Standby I think I missed a step.
OK I'll start another post elsewhere about this when I figure out what I want to do. Thanks for the suggestion.

Which of these 3 options is proving to be the least trouble-free today? Please advise... Thanx!

So you are saying that I can upgrade my RTM version from 240 to 586 with the MCT file from MS, correct?

Reason for my question is that I just did a clean install last week and got all my programs back on, I don't want to do a clean install again.

This is annoying that the update won't work. My machine is only 10 months old.

I'll give it til tomorrow and if the WU doesn't work then I'll try MCT.

Oh one last question. I did notice a folder with today's date. Folder name is: $WINDOWS.~BT

There are a lot of files in the folder with recent dates. Do I leave that folder alone and hope WU will work another day or is there something I should do with it.

I found that downloading the ISO directly was an effective method.

Personally, I would choose this: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/9...-download.html - Option One!
