Don't think so, Computiac. How many times have we seen those with Home wonder the same thing? :)

I dont want to update my current edition, i want to make a new install but with PRO and not enterprise edition. I can use the tool for this job or not?
As far as I know, the Tool is only for Home or Pro, so yes. Caveat is that you have to have a qualifying OS to update.

By way of explanation, I have one partition on my dual boot machine that has the Insider Preview on it. There has never been a qualifying OS on that partition (I got in on the ground floor of the Preview). So, say I had Home on it and wanted to install Pro. I don't think I could do that simply because I don't have a qualifying OS installed. To qualify you have to have upgraded from 7 or 8.1.

If you have Windows 7 or 8.1 on a machine, you can upgrade that to Windows 10 Version 1511 (10586.3) using the MCT.

You can always download the Media Creation Tool. :) That's what I did and although I did a clean install, you can upgrade with it just fine from Build 10240 RTM.

Exactly AFAIK that will have 10586 ☻

Option TWO on the page above is the MCT if you choose the "install now " option it will get you to 10586.3 or let you download an ISO or USB if chose those options instead of Install now at the MCT .

Caveat : You *may have* to run windows update to get from 10586.0 to 10586.3 from an ISO or USB media installation after it installs but that's easy .

Ok am bored of checking windows update now plus it's getting late in the UK. I hope tomorrow evening it'll show up. I'll give it a chance for a couple more days before trying MCT. These huge updates always make me nervous, not keen on the culture MS and Apple pushing relentless updates for fear of stuff being broken. It seems I spend more time with computers, iOS devices updating them & then checking everything still works as it did before than actually using them. But I don't want to get left behind - stuck between a rock and a hard place. I just hope when the update lands it goes ok. I don't have time to deal with problems all evening, my wife always gets cross if I spend too long on the computer, lol!

I don't think it's available for Enterprise yet, Suspect. That's a whole 'nother situation!
Media Creation tool won't give you Enterprise, or update it as far as I know. I clean installed Enterprise 10586 from my MSDN ISO. MCT wouldn't update my 10 Education install. Not supported.

That was the way I would like to, but the download was very slow 4Mb, via the MCT speed was 20 Mb, maybe some server overload.
