In addition, you could use step 4 below to directly upgrade using the Media Creation Tool. :)

Here in San Francisco, California USA, nothing shows up on Windows Update, I'm downloading the iso from Microsoft Tech Bench first. Does the WU actually do a upgrade installation or does it do it like how normal updates are applied?

Servers busy? Downloads terminating? Downloads bad? If you are doing an update you can do it w/o the MCT, USB/DVD/CD etc. Download the ISO. Go to files and right click the ISO file and then select "mount". In the window that opens just run "setup.exe" and follow the prompts. Total time for d/l and install about 50 minutes. This gives you 10586.0 then check for updates will bring you to 10586.3.

This tool can't upgrade this PC
The language or edition of the version of Windows currently installed on your PC isn't supported by this tool.

I'm guessing it's because I'm running 10 Education on this PC. Just a heads up for anybody else not running Home or Pro. Enterprise will likely do the same thing.

Clean installed Enterprise and Pro, both showed as 10586.0, had to run Windows update to get to 10586.3

Anybody else getting the useless non functional Candy Crush Saga App on their Start Screen? I got it on my Pro install also. Won't run and no uninstall option that I could find? Once I unpin it its MIA from the Start Menu.
LOL! I got it when upgrading to 10586 Pro. I had the tile of which I unpinned. I have the uninstall option right clicking in All apps. I'm in limbo on it though. I'm afraid to open it for game addiction, but also don't want to uninstall because I heard it's so good.

If you use the media creation tool now, do you get this new version that lets you enter windows 7 or 8 product keys and doesn't ask for any key at all if you are re-installing an already upgraded to windows 10 install?

Also, if i download and burn the iso, but let's say i don't use it for a few months. Would i automatically get the latest updated image or would it have to update to bring it up to date?

Does the upgrade using via the usual Windows Update method also go through the long "clock mode" with several reboots or is it more like the usual upgrade with one reboot when its finished.? (now at 47%, drivers 40%)

Didn't show up at all for me in the Start Menu? Search couldn't even find it. Maybe it was installing in the background when I unpinned it? Weird? It wouldn't launch for me? The tile just turned dark/greyed out kind of.
