I'm leaving the WU pane open on one machine. The download will start by itself and continue to the point where it displays the "Install" button and stop. No need to keep checking manually.

I wonder at what point we should stop talking about Windows 10 and start talking about Windows 1511? The difference already shows in About Windows (winver).

Right interesting observation on the primary version number chg. from version 10 to version 1511 must be some obscure internal numbering scheme . I cant imagine there were 1501 versions in between the two . I cant figure that one but I'm thinking it will be a good discussion , ofc I don't think they've re branded Windows 10 just yet ....... I missed that altogether my unproven hypotheses is 10586.3 is the fall th2 update for 10240 RTM aka 10586 with a cumulative update and O.S build # change to 10586.3 maybe a kernel update of some sort ? ☻☻

It has no relationship to builds. Winver also reports that. It uses the release date as the version. It means 2015, November (11) in European date format. That format ensures future versioning stays in numerical order. This is Windows-as-a-service at work now. Microsoft has already said that Windows 10 is the last Big Bang new version release. It is all much more incremental moving forward. I certainly don't expect to see ads this Christmas for anything other than Windows 10, but among ourselves we can drop the "build this or that" at times and just talk about "10" and "1511." July should bring "Windows 1607."

I am busy downloading kb3105213 right now. A real pain to update my system with a measly "up to 4Mbps" DL connection. A 4Mbps ADSL connection is the max I can get in the small town where I live. I have come to dread Win updates!

Update: All seemed to go well with the update

OK, I'm convinced . It might make good shorthand for brevity so to speak like you say to use the version #'s in discussions depending on how they number things going forward . You may have indeed cracked the code we'll have to see if that holds up on the Redstone test builds outside of the general release updates .

I remember using dsl over a decade ago...seemed so fast then after dialup.

Alas however, these days I have a 100Mbps connection and that now seems slow!

    Technology stops for no man...
