Windows 10 Build 10586 Launches as Threshold 2

    Posted: 06 Nov 2015

RTM users are expected to receive it next week

Microsoft has remained completely tight-lipped on Windows 10 Threshold 2, but according to people close to the matter, this eagerly anticipated update is due next week for RTM users.

The latest preview build that Microsoft has shipped to insiders, however, is very likely to be the Threshold 2 that the company plans to push out in just a few days, as Redmond first wants testers to try it out and only then make it available for everyone if no major bugs are found.

Interestingly, the previous speculation on this proves to be true, as sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans revealed that the software giant initially aimed at a November 2 release but then decided to hold back the rollout in order to provide insiders with the final bits for testing purposes.

So build 10586 is almost certainly Threshold 2, with Microsoft itself confirming that this is one of the most stable and reliable versions so far and that it “makes a great daily driver.”

Windows 10 Build 10586 Launches as Threshold 2

I just completed the install. I am an insider on the fast ring. first thing I noticed is that the water mark in the lower right corner no longer is there. How can I check to see what is on the system and what build number is really there?

    WinKey + R - type: winver - or:
    Command prompt - type: systeminfo

    Type "winver" in start search.

A slightly quicker way is to open a command prompt

    type cmd <enter>
or right click and select command prompt

Threshold 2 will ship via Windows Update and not as a new build, making the process easier and smoother for everyone (although we all know that installing Windows updates could go wrong at any moment).
So does that mean no isos or not being able to use the media creation tool? If so, that kind of defeats the purpose of allowing windows 7 & 8.1 keys with this update.

Don't know where they got that idea from - they probably made it up. I bet you 10c there is an iso. Otherwise as you say it would be a bit pointless.

I agree... when the build becomes the new RTM MS will have to make that one the available via the media creation tool. Or.. heck they could just use the method they have for years and only have the base(10240) and everything else will come via an update.

I hope the do come out with an ISO.
