PC Support Reps Tell Users to Uninstall Windows 10

I upgraded a computer I bought around christmas 2014 witch had 8.1 preinstalled and upgraded to 10 just recently and am having no issues. I think people are taking windows 10 as a bad thing just like alot of people thought about windows 8 and 8.1.

Hi all,
This is an intriguing question and asking to myself why do I like/want upgrade my OS' the answer to me is: an OS is like a car, after few years it become older noisy and worn, don't you get bored driving the same old car?
New models are shining, with better optionals, are almost noiseless, they are more environment friendly not to mention the new factory made smell.
Could this be the answer to this kind of philosophical question?
Don't know if this is the answer. . .albeit it is as good as what the other guy is attempting to push upon the good folks here on the 10's. . .:)

Well I don't know if this is true or not but starting next year windows 10 will forced on us. So far and one reason I upgraded is the fact that windows 10 looks and feels better to me then 8.1 did.

I never understood the logic of upgrading the OS on an existing PC. Why even bother? Don't you have anything better to do?
Thats a stupid question, if you're on this forum you're a computer enthusiast or a techie, if you're either, you're always looking for the next hit. Sure someone spending all day on Twitter or Facebook wouldn't even be aware of the OS, but enthusiasts are always looking for something new.
Is it rational, probably not but then neither is looking for the highest mountain to climb.

I respectfully disagree with you. I think there are more than just enthusiasts or techies on these forums.

Machine Sales Not OS Upgrades
Nothing against support reps but if someone upgrades they may not buy a new PC as soon & upgrades usually mean more support
Agreed.
Surely the reason for this is to drum up sales.
The only upgrades OEMs are interested in are related to an entire machine, not the OS

While Microsoft might be revved up about getting people onto Windows 10 as fast as possible, if you call your PC maker's tech support line, you might be advised to roll back to older versions.
As part of its annual tech support showdown, Laptop has uncovered that tech support agents for Dell and HP are actively discouraging customers from upgrading to Windows 10, even going as far as recommending that customers roll back their PCs to older versions in order to solve even simple issues.
When quizzed as to why customers were being given this advice, the companies stated that while they were committed to Windows 10 - what choice do they really have other than to say that? - the job of tech support is to get people's PCs up and running again, even if that means rolling the system back to an older version of Windows.
And that's exactly as it should be.
PC OEMs already operate on razor-thin margins, and asking them to take on the job of supporting upgrades is unreasonable, unless the PC was sold with that upgrade in mind, as some were in the run up to the launch of Windows 10. The support calls are an additional cost that the OEMs haven't accounted for.
And remember, PC OEMs get nothing from the fact that you've upgraded operating systems. Sure, they might be able to upsell you something, but the bulk of their money comes from selling new PCs, not by extending the useful life of your existing one.
As Microsoft moves to a "Windows-as-a-Service" model, the support model for PCs we buy will surely have to change, but there's no such thing as a free lunch and someone is going to have to pick up the tab. Either the consumers are going to be asked to pay more for extended support, or Microsoft is going to have to start paying OEMs to offer support for migrations.

Although I am not a Justin Bieber fan 
I have both hobby and work computers. I did upgrade my hobby computer to Windows 10, because I don't mind (much) if something breaks (nothing broke so far).
However, threads like this makes me pause as to upgrading my work computer (currently running Windows 8.1 without any problems) any time soon. And if I miss the free year and have to pay for the upgrade, so be it.
Any guesses from the folks here when Windows 10 will be ready for 'work' ?

I am more than happy with Windows 10 but for best experience you really need to clean install. Upgrading seems to cause so many issues specially from Windows 7.
I had massive issues with system overheating for some odd reason after doing an upgrade from 8.1 to 10, but once I did a fresh install of 10 no overheating.
