Here I have two physical upgrades on two desktops as well as two VMs activated and not one has run into any bugs so far. And that is what you ran into there. A slight glitch during the upgrade. The advantage now of couse is that the 10586 will be found to be seeing less "Buggyness" with upgrades since 10 has progressed along a bit since the July release. Still seeing an iso made up may be what you end up needing if you run into anything else unfixable.

They should make a Start/All apps screens snap in console type option like 8/8.1 instead of the Start menu, although I do think it's better than the old one. I don't need no stinkin Taskbar on the Start menu and I think All apps should be a separate screen. I don't care what anyone says, the Start screen is much better at navigating with a keyboard. Home/End and Page Up/Down keys don't work in the Start menu. I have to hit the down arrow 3 times to get to the tile area, then arrow, arrow, arrow a lot. Too slow. And no, I don't want to use the mouse.

    Rant over.
I much prefer the Windows 8.1 Start Screen/All Apps Screen over the 10 Start Screen/Start Menu. I don't use the Start Menu all that much so I can live with it. A step backward IMHO. Really don't get why multi monitor disables Tablet mode? Why not let me decide if its usable or not? You could always just turn it off again if you didn't like it.

I don't have sore wrists, not yet anyway. I do suffer from chronic pain though. Lower back and neck and shoulders. It isn't why I use a trackball but using the trackball does reduce the pain I get. I've used trackballs for years. Tried one and never went back to a mouse. They seem to be one of those you either love them of hate them deals. Those that like them like them a lot. I have a Logitech M570, several actually, I keep one in my laptop bag. I prefer thumb over finger. Great for FPS games too, IMHO. Anyway we now return you to our regularly scheduled thread.

It doesn't work for me neither. Backspace key does, but takes me back to the home page, not previous page. If the search box is focused no key will work. You may want to check that? Alt/Back (or Forward) keys is usually the norm for that kind of navigation. I noticed some apps do and some don't. I would guess it depends on if it's it written into the app. Strange that it's working for some, though.

Press the Window key and up pops Start.

Press the down arrow and it speedily goes to the bottom. Hold it down too long and you're at the top again. Speed down to All Apps and hit Enter. Once there, the page up and page down arrows work flawlessly. If that's not fast enough, press the down arrow and speed downward. Pass up what you were looking for? Whoops, press the up arrow!

It'll take a little getting used to, but I can manage the learning curve. A few less mouse clicks for my poor carpal tunnel!
I'm trying not to sound like I'm complaining, but rather give a fair assessment. I probably should compare 10 with 7 rather than with 8/8.1 for after all MS had to take a step backward since 8/8.1 were not well received. Yes, I got spoiled with the Start screen and ease of navigation in 8/8.1. However there's more WinRT in 10 than in 8/8.1 and there will be more as time goes on. In fact I'll predict there will be no more desktop in 10 years.

Ok, Wyn, I hear ya and know all that you explained, but navigate my Start menu below with just the arrow keys keeping in mind that Home/End and Page Up/Down keys don't work as with the Start screen in 8/8.1. Is it impossible? No, but it' takes more keys and time. The last column is not quite organized here since the last upgrade. I'm working on arranging it, which is another feature 8/8.1 had over 10 > backing up the Start screen in my MS account. Not so with my 10 Start menu. Have to install apps and rearrange it with every upgrade.

Perhaps I should give up on that last column and use All apps for them since I don't use them that much as you suggested for the navigation in All apps is better. There's just a few there I should move over for I like the live tiles for at-a-glance info.

Along with what Alpha stated, the Start menu is a step backward from the Start screen just to appease those that didn't like it or understand it's brilliance. Hopefully the navigation with the Start menu will get better with time. Just add the Home/End and Page Up/Down keys and I'll be a much happier camper.

Hopefully if enough of us suggest it they will add Tablet mode with multi monitoring. Another thing 8/8.1 has over 10.

ISO's are up on MSDN, downloading as I type this. Insider page download now takes you to the Windows Media Creation Tool download page. That looks to have been updates as well, doesn't offer Home or Pro, just Windows 10. Must be multi edition like the MSDN ISO's now?

You can always set things for the Start full screen if you prefer the Metro look. One of the main reasons 8 flopped was for suddenly seeing "Metro in you face!" compared to the traditional Start menu which has actually been updated in the Stardock Start menu 10 app! You can have the older 7 style or modern or select the 10 style as well as try out any number of Start orbs and buttons for 98 even!

I had Logitech and the trackballs simply fell out of those cheap Arse crap! The one that actually stood out especially for anyone having longer fingers and not scrunched up like these other cheapies seen now was the old MS Trackball Explorer that saw a great price back when! 5 button programmable with scroll wheel and left click by thumb.

No mouse pads curling up and sliding around on you. But MS as usual does away with anything good! While the last I found were priced for $30 you might still find a few there or on EBay for only $500-! And what do you know? Only $501.97 with free 2 day shipping! Microsoft Trackball Explorer Computer Networking Keyboards Mouse Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

That model originally retailed about $59.99 and had been 50% off as a vendor clearance when grabbing a couple off of Amazon many a year back. One finally let go in 2013 and the few closest do not see programmable buttons while one sees dual scroll wheels for horizontal as well as vertical scrolling. Despite the description there you could program all five buttons one being the scroll wheel itself.
