Same here - you're not going crazy!
Ok, thank you its because I was trying to clarify this, because I haven't had much time to test the TP builds and when I booted back into RTM 10240 I noticed that things were not the same and I really did think I was going crazy. Here is me going into my RTM version 10 minutes later, LMAO.

So yea .... now in the RTM everything is white on black. But it was reversed in the TP ..... thanks for telling me I'm not going crazy. So this is the norm now? Its a new change, friend?

    Thank You.

It's all part of the dark theme that have been slowly adding. I hope they continue to add more by adding the dark background to all menus and file explorer. I think it looks better.

Well I hope we will be able to customize this. I mean if its like this on the insider preview and they want to see the reaction it makes sense, so I can see why its half and half in the insider preview. However myself I personally like the white/light theme over the dark theme for my context and personalization menus. If they do add a dark theme in a future W10 update, hopefully we will have the option to switch between the two, so those that want dark can go dark and those that want light can stay light. I thought I was going crazy seeing a dark taskbar and a light theme context menu. Very strange.

Hoping they give us an option to customize this in future builds of W10. If this is half and half right now, on the insider preview, I wonder what is going to be on the fall update official consumer release?

It makes for easier viewing instead running smack into flashy color schemes! I still have to see if I can get at least one of the VMs activated here since the server rejected the key used for the second 7 Pro build.

Actually you shouldn't even need any key according to the Digital entitlement information for Insider Preview builds.

You’re a Windows Insider and upgraded to the newest Windows 10 Insider Preview build on an eligible device that was running an activated previous version of Windows and Windows 10 Preview.
That's seen on the Activation in Windows 10 page. Just trying it to take on a VM without a key even with any upgrade from a previous build requires the previous be activated. Try another key time!

    UPDATE: LIke you never expected...?

With a delay in changing settings due to fixing a Windows Defender update issue shutting down the update service long enough to rename the SoftwareDistrution and Catroot2 folders by adding the familiar ".old" on the end of each I could then go back into the Personalization section and turn the "Show color on taskbar and Start meny" switch on.

Once Windows 10 is activated you can go into the Personalizations>Color settings and turn on the switch for seeing color added to the Start and main taskbar as well as change themes, wallpapers, or any number of other things as long as they are updated for 10 as far as any 3rd party decorations? are concerned. The black Start and taskbar were that way on the 10240 before activation took place when looking back on that when it looked a bit all too familiar.

did not read all the posts, but this was the 1st update that did it on its own and there is NO watermark on the screen. I did not even know about it until my Gadgets were not there!

BTW, has anybody noticed that the system uses less RAM? On my 12 GB laptop, set up as I want with startup items I need, I had 8.5 to 8.8 GB available in 10576 after signing in and opening my browser with its four homepage tabs.

Now in 10586, exactly the same setup and startup items, I have constantly over 9.5 GB.

I notice it every time I sign in because my Maxthon browser's status bar is always showing me the CPU usage, DL & UL speed and the available RAM:

In 10586, Lock Screen notification choices are faded but, they show in high contrast:
