They cannot afford to NOT listen to us PC experts. This time around it's "sink or swim" for their operating system.
I doubt it.. they could completely screw it up, and it still wouldn't kill them. Windows 7 is still viable for another 6 years, Windows 8.x is still current for quite some more.. There are still no viable alternatives.

Linux? Linux has a self-destructive multiple personality disorder. As soon as it gets close to looking like they might get their act together, they self-destruct because various "members of the community" don't agree with the direction... They basically have the same problem Microsoft has, but they don't have anyone to "put the boot down" and they just fork off in all directions.

Apple? Apple doesn't WANT to be the big dog. They like being "exclusive" so they can charge premiums on everything. If they were the 90%, they would be common, and that would destroy the apple culture. They like their < 10% status.

ChromeOS? Hardly, there's been no move by anyone (other than, ironically, Microsoft) to support any real apps on ChromeOS.

So, that leaves Microsoft, regardless of what MS gives us, we either have to stick with what we've got, or take what they give us... Certainly, Microsoft can make more money with a successful release, but they won't die if they don't.

Except Win7, they stopped sales on it. Secondly, MS must keep on making new OSes, getting stale and not selling new doesn't bring any revenue.

I'd rather see a choice in search. The icon could stay, but what it launches would be user configured (Windows Search, new Windows Search (Bing/Cortana), or a 3rd party Modern search app (Google).

I think I've sent feedback to that effect, but will check my files and submit a new one if I only vented about the myriad of search issues.

A new wrinkle I've come across is that many desktop users right click on an app in the search results list to Run as administrator - the new search does not support right click in the results.

    I know I'm repeating myself.
When I use the search off of the Start Flag I don't want nothing from Bing popping up.
When I use that Search all I want to do is search inside my system.
If I wanted to search on the internet I would open a browser and Bing would not be my search engine.

Windows 7 is the best OS from Microsoft since Windows 95. Long live Windows 7!

Note: Those average users who complain about Aero, for crying out loud, just use Classic Theme and speed-up your computer by 15% or more.
