No question that's true...except here, I don't recall Microsoft ever making an official announcement about Nov 2. Scuttlebutt and rumor, twitter posts and the rest of it, are not official company announcements. (This generation has yet to learn the distinction between gossip and news...)
Notice, for instance, this article. Before the article update (its retraction), it provides no quotes or links to substantiate that Nov 2 was actually a release date for anything. That's how you discern a company announcement from a rumor someone else starts: a company announcement is generally handled by way of a press release on the company site, full of supporting quotes by various company officials. I think the closest thing any Microsoft employee has told anyone is to expect a release "sometime in November", and even that is not an "official announcement" by the company.
Basically, the lesson is don't believe everything you see on the Internet...
Looks to me that he still didn't substantiate anything . . .
I don't see a retraction here. I only see that he's been told Th 2 won't be launching on November 2.Update: I’m told Threshold 2 will not be launching on November 2nd now, the original plan was for it to launch the first week of November,
Failed to sign off? Looks to me like he's trying to put the monkey on Microsoft's back so his mistake won't be quite as noticeable. Also, if it's going to happen next week, Microsoft's gotta get its act in gear.but Microsoft failed to sign off on a final build this week meaning it will have to happen next week.
If he knows what he's talking about, and he's cutting it pretty close, Build 10576 should be the final build we test before Microsoft rolls out the update to 10240. And since we've only had Build 10576 a couple or three days, it makes me wonder if "next week" is a realistic guess.Microsoft will likely want to flight the final build to Insiders for testing before rolling it out to the public too, which will further add to the wait time for consumers. Original story follows.
Hey all,
Wow! Logging in today and having a read through all the pages on this thread I started here .... I hope everyone realizes that I never meant to start any type of flame war, with anyone. I was just surfing and reading different pages and articles on the net, and was curious (as everyone else) to hear a MS SR1 update to W10 RTM and stumbled across that particular WinBeta article. I just wanted to post it up here on 10 Forums for debate, and see if it has any credibility, discuss it among members in the community and so forth.
I hope you all know I didn't post this to stir up any pots or anything like that. I was just posting a "source" article via forum rules. I never mentioned it was real or fake. It was just a post I took and posted via Brink's rules of not to plagiarize. Not sure what happened to Gary but I hope that doesn't mean I'm gonna get the cold shoulder as well for making this thread? That was never my intention.
Well, wishing everyone a Happy Halloween to those that celebrate.
Thanks guys, I appreciate it. Yes, thats the word I was looking for. Trying to be informative. Since having W10 TP on the separate machine and seeing it update to 10576, I was in shock and started thinking about (Nov 2nd) and would it still be the RTM SP/SR release for all the consumers. Don't get me wrong who doesn't like a TP update, so that's why I was digging around the net and found said article that I posted. I guess time will only tell and be the real answer, unless we hear something from Microsoft.
Thanks, and same to you as well.
