Being built into windows has nothing to do with usage or popularity
It's probably the second easiest thing to do is to download another browser,
First being turning on the computer :)

In my opinion the average user is going to use what comes pre-installed on the computer. I wouldn't be surprised to find out most user don't even know what Fire Fox is and probable think Chrome is that shiny coating on their bumpers.

I would think that the average user views their PC just as they do say, a toaster. Turn it on and use it. They don't upgrade the OS or install third party software. What ever it comes with they will stick with.

That's assuming that they are aware of FireFox.
And I would bet they are not.

For some reason, very smart people become very dumb when it comes to computers. It's like they shut off their brains, and refuse to comprehend even simple things. We're talking about people that you can't explain the difference between a double and single click, or a left or right click... they don't understand the difference and they don't WANT to understand the difference. You try to explain it to them, and their eyes glaze over and they forget it as soon as you walk away. In the hierarchy of importance, learning about computers is somewhere between learning about changing the oil in their car and understanding the difference between an amoeba and a microbe.

A computer is a tool they use to do their job or get information. It's not a hobby, and it's not something they play around with... They haven't run Windows update...ever. They've never run a virus scan. They've got a billion taskbar icons and their system is so slow it takes an hour to boot up.. but they put up with it because they just don't care...

    Agreed. :)

Those type of users will whine about how bad/slow Windows is, or what a piece of garbage "Brand X" hardware is.
