Microsoft: Windows 10 Users Should Say No to Chrome and Firefox

I’m a long time away from 7 and IE10. I thought it was time to move on a long time ago. Good for its time, but old tech to me.
Only problem is Edge doesent work well it was rushed out and is very unstable and unresponsive with more than 3 tabs open for more than a few minutes i.e. it's useless !
Chome works fine and F/F ain't bad ,IE 11 is a third place show but useable !

I've been able to use Edge with much more that 2/3 tabs open at a time. Edge is a work in progress and MS kept IE11 so users still have a browser to use, if they choose.

I can use more than 2 or 3 tabs in Edge but if you do it doesent even appoach Chrome's stability or performance and a lot of the feartures dont work and the ones that do dont always work well if at all .
OTOH I can have 15 -20 tabs open in Chrome with no depreciated performance and Chrome is a memory hog .
MS had to keep IE 11 around or most folks and business would be stuck with nothing useable at all unless they downloaded a real browser.
At this point Edge is less than a work in progress ,Edge is a train wreck ☻☻

Edge is getting really close to Firefox with its HTML5 test score.

My Chrome is still alive and kicking .. What's up with yours ...
I'm not really sure what's going on. I haven't installed any new extensions, in fact I'm only running 1. I tried deleting the profile but that didn't work either.
Day 2 - problem still exists. I've uninstalled Chrome, deleted all lingering folders left over, I'll try to install it tomorrow. If the problem still exists, I'll try the Chrome forums....don't really want too but hopefully some Chrome geek will help me out.

I'll continue to use the browser I want to use, which is currently Firefox. Microsoft's opinion about what I should or shouldn't use means absolutely nothing to me.
Same here

At this moment I have 6 tabs open and have had for the last 3 hours and as soon as I click on any of them they open straight away.

Before I start FYI > This is on build 10565.
All just your opinion. That is all. Here's my experience. > Below is Edge with 10 open tabs that I can use all day without any deprecation whatsoever. And this is on a 9-year-old Acer tower with duo core and 2GBs of memory. I also have Task Manager, a Word file, Snipping tool, Outlook (all EXEs), Sidebar Dictionary, and Weather app (Store apps) open. All run just fine.
If you'll notice below, as the same with Modern Store apps, the tabs go into a hibernation state after a period of non use. Once brought to focus they activate again. Not so with legacy programs written with the traditional Windows API (Win/32/64), which always remain at constant memory.
Not usable my arse!
Oh, and walled-garden, which is much safer than other browsers, even IE.

I'm staying with IE and Firefox.
If MS remove IE from 10, I'll go back to 7 or 8.1
Wenda.
Eventually IE will be gone for good but not entirely for the present time since too many programs are set to use IE to open to their own sites. If you ever installed a new program and as soon as the installation is complete see a web page opened up that would be the home site for that particular program. When uninstalling a trial or shareware program you may also see a page with the option to purchase the full version open up. IE isn't gone yet you simply to use the last newest flavor of IE depending on which version of Windows you are running.
Hi there.
Although rumored as such, but where is it written that MS plans on “dumping IE”? Please reference.
The links you refer to may be in a specific program, help files, and/or readme files, but those links call on the OS to open the default browser to open the specified page. It will open Edge if configured as default browser just as any other browser. At least so far it's been performing that way for me since 1st preview build. Perhaps you've run into such a problem? If so, what program?
Dumping IE? I never said dumping IE entirely for the present time. Cluster Head posted the actual information about seeing only a few of the latest depending on which version of Windows you are in still being useable once MS drops support for all other previous versions.
IE11 has been in the Accessories folder in All apps section of the Start menu since 1st preview build. Really no need to chase for it anywhere else. Right click brings up the context menu to pin to “Pin to Start” and/or “Pin to Taskbar” as shown below. The context menu looks to be knew as of recent builds, but IE11 has always been in the Accessories folder.
As a side note and interesting that the uninstall link opens "Programs and Features". One must click on "Features" there to turn IE off. You are correct that it does not uninstall it, but rather turns it off as with all other Features. They are all integral features of the OS, therefore cannot be uninstalled.
Apparently according to some who have followed the instructions in the guide(s) pointed to earlier the turning off of the IE by unchecking the IE box removes it from view on the Start>Windows Accessories. I still haven't played around with removing IE since I found I still ended up needing it in order to try bookmarks on Edge which first have to be imported from where? IE Only by MS design there making efforts to import from other browsers impossible!
Edge is definitely out of the “Alpha, Beta stages” otherwise they wouldn’t have released it along with/in RTM 10240. It may not have some of the features that are in IE or other browsers and may need maturing in some of those ways, but it has its own unique features that others do not have. Edge certainly doesn't look that way presently. I've been through the Setttings and Advanced options numerous times and still end up falling back on some other browser if not Waterfox or IE here! In fact I now have several installed on 10 and still finding some classic oldies are still seeing newer versions except for AOL dropping Netscape Navigator with the last 9.0,0.7 flavor that runs like a champ on the 64bit 10 still! Flock, Palemmon, Opera, Iceweasal, Seamonkey, etc. are all being given a try while those still tend to mimic Firefox in too many ways and why I ended up sticking with the 64bit variant pulled together by an independent of Mozilla source who came up with Waterfox. It works!

right answer.
EDGE is the least SAFE browser out there for Windows 10 and I refuse to use it, and have repeatedly since Preview days let MS know my own Opinion. I do work for SOHO and tell them the same: For SAFETY reasons - DO NOT USE EDGE.
MS is running opposite Apple in this regard: Apple finally figured out that ADWARE is MALWARE-IN-WAITING. The reason Apple products are picking up MALWARE at nearly the same rate as Windows product is because the best Black Hat minds are targeting browsers as the gateway. Not the Browser code itself [most of the time] but the access to LINKS for all sorts of 'goods' on legitimate websites. Anyone that routinely keeps up with the best white hat minds in cybersecurity knows this.
MS has Edge WIDE OPEN FOR ADVERTISING BIZ. Come one, come all. The more the better in their view. EDGE will favor the ADVERTISERS, legitimate and non-legitimate, over the USERS.
Use Edge and be a malware crash test dummy
LITTLE KNOWN FACT of late is this gem: IE 11 is more efficient running video content than any of the other browsers I've tested - at least in laptops with embedded, not dedicated GPU's, although I suspect this will prove true there also. So if you have multiple tabs at work, and you need video along with its system loading, you're better off doing that with IE.
for other reasons, I use FF for my sensitive stuff - with a lot of armor
