Microsoft to Discontinue Old Internet Explorer Versions in January

Cant java be downloaded separate so that those that want to use it can, and for us that don't use just don't have to bother with it

I do not leisure web surf believe me I go on all the sites I used to go on with IE, only this time I don't get sorry we could not open this site or sorry IE has encontered a problem and needs to close.
Edge goes in and I don't now get thrown out.
So don't run away with that is all it is good for,
Have you tried it and disabled IE has I don't have it at all on my computer

You will find that was only recently updated from what it had been showing a few years back! The 2014 report was based on the only then latest revision MS was making by extending support for Vista an extra year over what had been seen back when 7 was new. Originally January 2016 was the deadline prior to XP's demise a year ago April. Not that XP will ever be missed here of course!

WRONG! I am presently running IE 11 on 7! showing it will run on 8 and 8.1 as well those being the two newer versions proceeding 10. The total end of support comes for IE 8 on Vista and IE 9 and 10 for 7, 8, 8.1, and now 10 bringing in Edge while you can still manually pin IE 11 32bit or 64bit to the Start as well as task bar.

You think MS is going to make Edge much better then it is? That would be a grand stand of all time seeing MS make Edge better and more secure then every other browser out there knowing their track record with IE 6.0 to start with being a large security hole!

No they simply tossed their beta flavor of Edge in on 10 to force everyone to try it out long before it was even scheduled to be ready. 10 is a workshop experience rather then the final RTM being pushed for a much larger beta testing audience presently simply to get more people upgrading to 10.

You will notice that there is a new Windows Insider build popping up every month since the 10240 was first seen at the end of July upto the 10565 at the moment. Once you have a final version out in the past the next build would then include a service pack as far as the dealer end's optical media went. But MS is now dropping optical media entirely in favor of downloads and flash drives.

Once you have everybody or as many as you can running the newer you can then proceed to dump support for the older what evers which include the older flavors of IE now relatively outdated! IE does need an updated replacement but not seen in any general release as the beta but the finished product. Why do you think there's that "Windows Feedback" option first seen in any supposed RTM? 10 isn't the final RTM! MS saw this release for feedback stating they wanted to... didn't quite yet... make 10 the best version ever. You have to read between the lines there!

I'll say it again. Abandoning support for current technologies just for "security reasons" is not the correct approach. Hackers will eventually find a way to hack our computers using the new technologies. That's why Antivirus and Firewall are for. Anyone connected to the internet without at least Antivirus (even a frequently updated Windows Defender will do) is asking for trouble! Not supporting ActiveX controls and Java to prevent hackers is only a temporary solution. It's a matter of time until hacker find a security hole in Edge as well. Besides not every single website supports new technologies, so common sense dictates that Edge should have a minimum backwards compatibility with present technologies if we are to use it for serious work, rather than just Facebook and YouTube.

Please don't make me repeat myself! Read my posts and think about it before saying once again that Edge is the new, IE is the old. New is not necessarily better!

MS is not going to continue to support outdated software, previous versions of IE. And security issues is a good reason. MS can continue to improve the security of IE11 and that's what they need to do. Face it, old versions of IE are dead and the support is going away.

IE11 will be around for some time to come.

IE 11 will be the last in the IE line-up there and still in use on 10 until 2020 at least when Edge and no longer IE is supported not only by MS but most sites adopting Edge standards. As for Java that invites more problems with then without and why it is phasing out since newer technologies can easily replace the old 3rd party addons! Java and Flash go to the wayside!
