Yes, but you didn't realize the problem! There is not 1:1 correspondence of the modern Settings app and the classic Control Panel! It is not only a matter of preference, most advanced settings are just not possible using the modern Settings app alone! This is because it is aimed at novice users. What about us experts that we want and demand full control over our computer? One good idea would be using the modern Settings app in tablet mode and using the classic Control Panel in normal use. This is consistent enough to not confuse users!
It work's perfectly Now! Add it to your desktop. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DesktopBackground\Shell\GodMode]
@="God Mode"
"Icon"="control.exe"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DesktopBackground\Shell\GodMode\command]
@="explorer shell:::{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}"
Personally if I need a setting quick and there is no icon in the system try(sound or network), or desktop right click(display), I just use Search.
But!... Do you know the taskbar toolbar?
I use that to access the control panel settings sometimes(I never click my way to it, I just use the cascading menus) and I would miss that.
So, I see & understand both sides of the argument.
perhaps it is habit, but still like CP I know where and what I am doing ...
I would have no problem using the modern Settings app instead of classic Control Panel, but before Microsoft removes it, they should add all features in modern Settings app. Right now, they cannot remove it or they will also remove controls not available in modern Settings app alone. If you have noticed all advanced settings in modern Settings app are a link to the respective classic control. So until they add all advanced controls into modern Settings app, please DON'T remove the classic Control Panel! I beg you, as I believe many others do!
For everyone using Control Panel once a month or even less, please DON'T vote against it! Mind us experts that we use it every day. We wouldn't like to miss advanced features just because you don't use them or you are confused having two controls for the same thing! As I said before, a good compromise would have been to use the modern Settings app in tablet mode, but when in normal desktop use, to have the choice between modern Settings app and classic Control Panel. Nobody forced you to use the classic Control Panel. Keep using the modern app and be rather limited, if you like. I prefer full control over my computer using the classic Control Panel. The desirable is to add functionality for expert users, don't remove every advanced functionality just to make it "user-friendly" for the novices! Novices will have difficulty using the modern app as well, so there is little point arguing about it! Keep classic Control Panel for the love of God!
