The whole point is to make sure the new product will have the same features as the old. If we just wait without telling our opinion, then it may be too late! The purpose is that Microsoft takes into account what we say (I hope) and then they design the final version. As I said before, it doesn't matter if I like it or not, but I do want the new Settings app to be as functional as the old Control Panel before they make the switch and remove the latter.
I was an active member in New York Enterprise Windows User Group, Exchange Server Group, SQL Server Group among others.
Prior to or during the development of Vista, we have an open direct phone conference to the Windows Development Team. We spoke and ask a number of features to be include in the new OS. But guess what, only a small percentage of requests make it. Programming Project Management is complex and many time a developed feature was never release for one reason or other.

Now, I am no longer see my NY friends due to relocation.

A feature released in the OS does not mean it is a finished product. It is part of process, version 0 (proof of concept), version 1, version 2, etc.

Please have some faith in the process.

Does this means just sit and wait. No! send in your feedback to Microsoft!

I also remember MicroSoft saying that Vista was going to be the last version of Windows. :)

In Greece way say "Better take a big bite than speak a big statement". I mean that Microsoft should think twice before saying this is the last Windows version. Probably they will have changed their mind in a couple of years and we will see Windows 11 coming. What they are going to sell if people keep updating an old Windows version? Doesn't make sense. Unless they charge for upgrading to a new build, I hope not...

I also remember that MS promised a new file system (WinFS).

Even if W10 is a huge success, the only way it will be the last version of Windows is if MS eliminates the entire Marketing Department.
Marketers can only sell a product based on its appearance.

Yes Paul, it is a Windows device.

But overhere we have computers for work and that is a huge difference compared to students, or people who want to be online all day. Mostly some want to be on the internet all day....

See this as as a Iphone. There are people who use 2 batteries a day.....

But please do not compare a tablet with a computer.

In the end "IT'S ALL FOR THE MONEY"

Overhere in Belgium many people have there phone in their hand while driving.

If you have an iPad, get the keyboard accessory. It's QUITE functional, and it's all MOST people want or need.

That's the problem, Jody. It's not useful out-of-the-box.

Just got an email from MS on the new Surface Pro 4 convertible so to preorder. The pen is updated as well.

Surface Pro 4 – Power Through Your Day

Don't forget the new Surface Book. Buy Surface Book - Microsoft Store

The full-blown edition is just not for tower PCs anymore. MS isn't going to write a specific OS for the dwindling tower PC and conventional laptop markets. Makes no business sense whatsoever. Besides, there's the Enterprise and Education editions. I should think some here should check those out. Good grief. Get over it and move on already.
