Hi there
who ever reads - much less actually takes any notice of GARTNER -- most of their rubbish could be predicted more accurately by simply GUESSING. In any case if you have a mature market what do you expect --that shipments keep rising -- if they do it actually doesn't say much for the quality of the original products if they need to be replaced that often.
I'm running W10 very successfully on a number of PC's that are at least 6 years old - and all they've had as an upgrade has been to fit them with SSD's - a worthwhile upgrade.
I might well get a new Surface Pro 4 later --that's a specialized non mass market piece of kit.
Just IGNORE GARTNER --absolute rubbish -- and even if shipments of PC's are falling (I don't know what other outcome one should expect in a mature market) it doesn't mean that the numbers of people USING them has declined -- even if they use them less--a lot of people surf the net on phones etc - but you still need PC's for sensible real work situation applications.
Another piece of useless GARTNER reporting -- W10 has made very little difference to the nr of shipments of PC's --- well that should be so bleedin' obvious that why they even bother to waste print in writing those words just beats me.
If Ms was giving away W10 for FREE and with millions joining an essentially NO COST W10 insider program why in the world what they expect W10 to drive PC sales forward. W10 runs nicely (perhaps too nicely some might say) on quite old and modest PC kit so there's no need to go out and buy new gear if you don't want it.
So GARTNER --please eat the proverbial and DIE.
Sadly though some managers actually read GARTNER's 100% forays into pure Bovine Scatology and even worse believe them.
Cheers
