Anyone had a good look in PCSettings?

Quite a few new items there with and asterisk beside them. I presume these are pending updates.
@davehc there are actually two shortcuts to PC settings in the "All Apps" menu. One major difference is the original PC Settings shortcut has the check for new preview builds link in the Update & Recovery section and the other shortcut zPC Settings does not and contains the asterisks you are referring to.

It would be wise to keep both PC settings shortcuts so all settings are available.

I started downloading 1 hour and 10 minutes ago and it is still downloading.
I'm watching the lights on my modem and router and they are blinking very fast so I know it's still downloading.

My ISP speed is 3.0. Does anybody have a idea how long this might take?

I'm in W-10 with a separate ssd dual boot with W-7. If my thinking is correct I'm shouldn't have to disconnect other drives to install the new preview.

    Is that correct?

I used the W10 Task Manager to monitor what was happening (CPU & Network).

2 hours in and I'm confronted with my W10 dual boot screen. Select Tech Preview and the result is a big fail with the message " Windows was unable to complete the update, your PC has been restored back to its previous state".

Its a lot of work to set all this up again as a working OS from scratch by making a new ISO and all... I might sit this one out until it either looks a lot more interesting... or... well we'll see :)
That's exactly what happened to me when I tried to update my Oracle VB Windows 10 TP client. Haven't tried it again yet and won't until I have some idea what went wrong and how to fix it.

Kari has created a tutorial about creating an ISO file from the update.

You can do this from a Command Prompt as well:

    reg query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion" /v EditionID

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
    EditionID REG_SZ Professional

I think I'll give that a try in a VM. I should be able to get it from my Acer Laptop that I updated to the new build.

I'd better bookmark this thread as there have been so many handy tips.
I've got no chance of remembering them.
