I downloaded the update to 10547, it sat at 25% preparing to install for 5 minutes or more, but then continued to the "A restart has been scheduled" page. I clicked on "Restart now", and the "Restarting" screen appeared with the throbber, no "working on .. " or other message. I left that for more than 15 minutes, without any further progress shown. There was some intermittent drive activity (judging by the drive LED.) So I got impatient and killed the system. On rebooting windows update showed the "A restart has been scheduled" page again. Several restarts later, into build 10532 each time, Windows update shows the restart page.
I have a $Windows.~BT folder with a created date of 2018 09 14 and a modified date of 2015 09 19 (that is today in AU.) the sub-folders in \Sources are all showing created today, and \Panther modified 1h24 later. Install.esd has a created date 2015 09 14, modified today.
What is the best way to resolve this?
Is there a registry key that needs changing?
    Should I delete $Windows.~BT?
    $Windows.~WS is dated 2015 08 26 - delete that also?
My system drive, a dedicated SSD, has 85.6GB free.
    TIA
I would try to restart few more times then decide where to go!

You can always convert esd to iso, mount it and upgrade from there if you want. You will see if it is 10547 or not after convert is done.

10547 killed the AVG free edition I was using. AVG kept failing when it tried to update. I uninstalled it and tried to re-install, but no go. So I guess it's Windows Defender for a while.

Wow, this is really slow, downloading has been at 88% for ages, all up an hour and forty minutes, this is the slowest I've ever seen it.
