OK, OK, you convinced me. I have an unused 240 GB SSD that I've been thinking seriously about putting into this computer; however, haven't done it yet. It took almost two hours for the update/upgrade to install on this comparatively new (2014) computer, so 27 minutes does sound good.

For the most part, I haven't had any problems either. My Start Screen stayed at the same number I'd "pared" it down to.

Of course, Microsoft took out my default Firefox and replaced it with Edge. Gonna have to remedy that, but first, I guess I'll let it stay for a bit, just to see if any improvements have been made.
A fibre (fiber for most here!) Internet connection also helps, Wyn!

Yep, definitely use that SSD. No use wasting it. Make sure it is using AHCI and not IDE, though. Makes a big difference on SSDs.

I now have 3 recovery partitions. Anyone know if we can safely get rid of these?
I had only the one 10547 put there. I deleted it with MiniTool Partition Wizard and re-incorporated that space into C. No ill effects that I've noticed, although bootup seems slower than with 10532. But it was that way before I deleted the recovery partition.

Has anybody found any spying devices yet, and has it got a 100 page manual telling us what all the updates are for, I don't like downloading stuff without knowing for sure that someone isn't going to be checking out all my details.

Same as build before. No new partition!

Dark mode (via the registry key) seems a bit darker than it used to. Backgrounds are solid black instead of dark grey.

Maybe it was like that before and I'm just misremembering.

I downloaded the update to 10547, it sat at 25% preparing to install for 5 minutes or more, but then continued to the "A restart has been scheduled" page. I clicked on "Restart now", and the "Restarting" screen appeared with the throbber, no "working on .. " or other message. I left that for more than 15 minutes, without any further progress shown. There was some intermittent drive activity (judging by the drive LED.) So I got impatient and killed the system. On rebooting windows update showed the "A restart has been scheduled" page again. Several restarts later, into build 10532 each time, Windows update shows the restart page.
I have a $Windows.~BT folder with a created date of 2018 09 14 and a modified date of 2015 09 19 (that is today in AU.) the sub-folders in \Sources are all showing created today, and \Panther modified 1h24 later. Install.esd has a created date 2015 09 14, modified today.
What is the best way to resolve this?
Is there a registry key that needs changing?
    Should I delete $Windows.~BT?
    $Windows.~WS is dated 2015 08 26 - delete that also?
My system drive, a dedicated SSD, has 85.6GB free.
    TIA
