Ok, so I go through that setup again. Then my Taskbar sticks open when I have it set to auto-hide. Tried to uncheck > Apply > It hides and pops right back out > Check mark the box to auto-hide > Apply to no avail. So now I'll reboot to see if that fixes it.
Wow, I haven't had that one yet!

But one hint . . . I got this update yesterday:

"Security Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows 10 Insider Preview September Update for x64-based Systems (KB3087040)"

It fixed one or more issues I was having (not in any way related to IE) and so far, I don't seem to have your other problems. I'll describe one later in this post and another in a separate post.

I realize this is all part of being an Insider, but this build is stretching my patience. And I'm pure MS. Don't fool with the registry or cleaner. Use Defender. Haven't had to change or don't fool with drivers. Don't do customization except Bing Desktop. Have Office 2016 Preview installed and works great. No other 3rd party programs. All MS.
I have Office 365 2016 installed. I use Defender and other security apps Microsoft has installed by default and no other security measures. <knocking on wooden haid> I have had very few security issues; the worst one was on Windows 8.1. As well, I install several other programs I need, which have presented no problems at all.

I've had that blink/flash on the RTM partition from my Windows 8.1 Home (which I upgraded to Pro) through upgrade to Windows 10 RTM. However, I'm pretty sure that will go away once I do a clean install of RTM. Not happening in Build 10547.

Have trouble with MS Store apps not opening with black tiles every other day/3 days only to reinstall. A couple of BSODs lately, reboots, then run all day with no problems whatsoever. All I'll say is when it runs, it runs great, but then all of a sudden something breaks for unknown reasons. Then it'll run fine for a day or two with no problems. It's like a hit and miss type engine.

I'll label it The Hit-n-Miss Type Engine Blinking Build. Never a problem with previous builds.
No screen blinks except when I reach for my mouse and inadvertently touch the power button to my Samsung monitor; stupid buttons don't have to be pressed . . . just a touch activates/deactivates them! Grrrrrrrrrr! No BSODs! Yay for that. I don't do Microsoft Store apps except for the Solitaire group, which misbehaved after I clean installed Build 10547. Uninstall/reinstall took care of that.

I do find that with Build 10547, bootup and login are taking closer to 30 seconds, rather than the 10 seconds prior builds took.

Since I did a clean install of Build 10547, I had to reinstall Office 365 2016 ProPlus, which wouldn't activate. I was given the following two links by a fellow Tech Previewer:

    1. https://support.office.com/en-us/art...c-94959b222bd3 and

    2. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_365hp-office_install/cant-activate-office-365-get-error-code-0x8004fc12/abc30c8a-3882-4fe8-b58a-70d5ee6f2c5b

My issue on the desktop was fixed by using Options 1, 2 and 3 in the first link; however, when I installed O365 on one of my laptops, that wouldn't work. Once I had restarted my computer and completed the above IE Security Update, etc., I no longer got the request for activation. Go figure!

But, yeah, for me, except for a few niggles, Build 10547 runs great.

So, did anybody stuck on Build 10240 figure it out? I'm thinking I might have to use an ISO to upgrade. Settings->System->About shows that my edition is just "Windows 10 Home", nothing about an Insider preview for whatever reason.

    Windows 10 Pro,

Build 10547 has been nothing but stable and boring on my system from day one. Nothing unusual or exciting to report, it just works right all the time.

Just as a WAG, uncheck "Give me updates for other Microsoft products when I update." I had to uncheck mine some time ago, but I don't know if it matters now. Still . . . can't hurt to uncheck it because you'll still get updates with or without it checked.

Have you "Reviewed your Updates"? There could be some info in there, such as failed updates.

I probably know the answer, but I'm sure you've periodically checked for updates, right?

Also, are you on a metered connection?

I've not heard of Home Edition as an Insider since RTM, but someone else may know. Your Advanced options screen looks fine, but do you have Insider Preview on your System > About screen as seen below?

Up until last Monday I was running Windows Insider builds and always had the Home version.

    Done.

Nothing failed, the last time there was something that wasn't a Windows Defender definition update was Microsoft Silverlight on the 7th.

Periodically? I've been furiously mashing the "Check for updates" button every day for about a week straight.

    Nope.

I've already answered this in the exact same comment you quoted. No.
