Microsoft pushes Windows 10 upgrade to PCs without user consent

Windows 10 checks for compatibility and says your good to go! But my laptop is not good to go at all, and update fails.
Very annoying
One way to find out for yourself if the laptop or even some other model or premade desktop is supported by 10 is to look at what there is available at the manufacturer's support pages for updates. If you only those for XP, Vista, 7 and none for 8, 8.1 call it a day! The 10 installer will then likely show incompatible since nothing newer then 7 was seen for the main board, video, audio, etc.
On the other hand if you do find 8.1 supported in particular being the immediate predacessor of 10 along with 8 driver and app downloads then you can follow the Clean Install Windows 10 Directly without having to Upgrade First guide for seeing 10 go without fuss! Upgrades average 66% or higher fail rates as far as them turning out "Buggy as H"! whether immediate or later found to be.
People often get confused at how 10 has a rather particular type of installer going which can prove to be frustrating quite often over things we would have taken for granted with the previous versions. Things like having any storage drive(s) plugged in with trash the upgrade or even clean install attempts on the spot since the 10 installer gets easily confused despite pointing it where to install when using the "Custom" install option!

Wish i had a Win 7 installation disk , i just have ISO's.
There is absolutely nothing preventing you from creating the disc from the .iso file except in having a program to do it. If you don't have a CD/DVD burning program such as Roxio or Nero [there's others] you can use CDBurnerXP or ImageBurn, both free and can use the .iso file to create a disc that is an exact copy of the original, quite useful when the original is not available. Nearly all of the 200+ versions of Linux are delivered as .iso files for downloading from the Internet.

Night Hawk, if I understand your post correctly. My windows 7 computer shouldn't be able to run windows 10 but it actually can. In fact, windows 10 uses windows update drivers for my system and not the manufacture drivers.
I found out, if you are upgrading and don't want to do a clean install afterwords. Let Windows 10 install check for updates to your system. It should update most if not all of your drivers. The install takes a little longer this way but it does less updating after windows 10 in installed. My experience.

My laptop is about 4 years old and the manufacturer has not listed any drivers newer than 2011 , definitely none for 8.1 or Win 10 although my laptop easily ran Windows 10 when i used it to see if i liked it for awhile.
I think computers even 6 years old can run Win 10 rather easily , just about anything with a (core 2 duo) processor or an i3, i5 or i7 and AMD past Athelon's.
I definitely would not count on a computer manufacturers website for info on this unless you have a relatively new computer.

Thats one of the features i like about Win 10 , it's capability to install most if not all needed drivers .
Whats the difference between a bootable Win 7 install disk and a disk thats bootable that contains the ISO file. I install Win 7 from a bootable disk with the Win 7 ISO on it .
I just wish updates were already installed because thats what takes forever.

I am not sure I understand you question correctly, so I may be answering this incorrectly. The tool was created for those that would download a windows iso image to install on usb/dvd drive. You technically don't need the tool for dvd drive, you can burn the iso image using windows 7 burner program. It will also work with windows 10 iso as well.

I think i am past that point , i have bootable Win 7 ISO disks, i just would love to have Win 7 on a bootable disk with all the right drivers and Windows updates already installed is what i was saying .

groze I am not sure what an IOS is, I googled and came up with many meanings. I think in this case it means your operating system. Anyway what I want to know is when you said "you can burn the iso image using windows 7 burner program" does that mean W7 has a way to do an image back up. I just back up my personal stuff on an EX drive and it would be nice to be able to do the imaging thing and not have to install all of my games one at a time.

Just out of curiosity,,, where/how did you come up with the 66% or higher figure??
