Here's how I got the Uninstaller to work:

    1. I extracted the WindowsMediaCenter_10.0.10134.0.zip file as a folder on my Desktop (previously it was extracted to my Downloads folder).

    2. I opened a Command Prompt (Admin) window. Then didn't touch this command prompt window until Windows Media Center was uninstalled.

-Right Click Start Button, select Command Prompt (Admin).

    3. On the Desktop, open the extracted folder "WindowsMediaCenter_10.0.10134.0"

-Right Click on _TestRights.cmd Run As Administrator. Wait until it completes.

-Right Click on Uninstaller.cmd Run As Administrator. Wait until it completes.

When the message "Press any key to exit." appears in the Command Prompt Window, press a key and close the Command Prompt Window and close any other open Command Prompt Windows.

    4. Windows Media Center appears to be uninstalled. The icon has disappeared from the All Apps Menu.

    Hi there

Working fine on build 10532 (insider W10 Pro X-64). Use the method in post 1 of the thread --important do the reboot as said and also run the install command as administrator.

Any idea though how to get it to play FLAC files -- nearly all my music is in FLAC format.

    Cheers

I'm quite happy with SichboPVR for my tv needs but I shall give WMC a go and see if it works on here.

TBH after testing out Media Center I've moved back to SichboPVR as I prefer it now.

I never cared for WMC when it was seen in Vista let alone available for 7. With cable tv piped into the main build by way of a tuner card through RCA type photo plugs from a composite source I will be getting in a refurbished vcr with tuner! not one of these Walmart play tapes only or vhs to dvd units but one with tuner to replace the 20yr. old Sony that went doa on me finally! Bought two of those and saw one dies off back in 2013. Got the use out of them however!

The download here seems to go through all the motions of opening up command prompt windows but no go on seeing WMC installed regardless of how many times including system restarts. I think it is likely due to having seen a clean install of 10 which immediately eliminates the new Windows DVD Player seen free as an update to the upgrade installs only otherwise $15 paid for separately at the MS store.

The solution here not for tv but for dvd, video, and still can but still use WMP for audio with visualizations still available to download run with Media Player Classic I started using that when the WMP in 7 would no longer play video captures without squashing them down to a thin line across the screen making them unable to be watched.

Mine was doing exactly the same thing. Going through the motions, opening command prompt windows, but not installing.

Use my install solution I posted on page 4 of this thread to successfully install WMC. It works.

I'm not actually able to restore all of the default apps and will have to update you here on how things go once I can restart the system again. Presently backing up something from a drive in an external enclosure before the drive gets tossed! Once done I will be able to find out if the next restart sees the WMC has gone on.

Unless you sign up to be able to read the other posts you have one person pointing to the Uninstaller.cmd file. That was tried here following the steps Antilope posted earlier to the letter and still NADA!

The default apps were restored since I only had a couple ot changes there and still rebooted each time. The additional command prompts windows open and the Uninstaller followed by the TestRights.cmd go through the motions but something apparently is still blocking something. Not even a new folder makes when taking a look in the Program Files and Program Files(x86) folders. :
