    - which might be a good thing. Read Thurrott's analysis:

Microsoft's Insane PC Manager App Comes to the Microsoft Store - Thurrott.com

Microsoft PC Manager is an officially launched desktop security tool aimed at global users,” the Store listing awkwardly explains. “It integrates Windows antivirus engine, comprehensively building a computer protection system. Microsoft PC Manager adheres to the four product concepts of simplicity, fluency, close to native, efficient and secure, and pure without disturbance. [Depending on how you count, those are five or six concepts. –Paul] Based on user pain points, it provides a one-stop computer problem-solving solution, addressing issues such as malicious system tampering, insufficient computer space, system lag, and excessive pop-up ads, creating a native Windows system experience for users.”

    Yikes.

I assume this is a Chinese language app that was translated into other languages, but I’m surprised that Microsoft would allow something this shoddily written to appear in public. But then I remembered the Windows Insider Blog and that we live in a new age.
    ......
You’ll note that some of the items in the above list are all caps and some are mixed case. That is exactly how they appear in this shoddy quality app. Also, you can configure this app to run at startup, ironically, and “join the Microsoft PC Manager Pop-up Plan” and help Microsoft optimize this app’s pop-up management feature.

I strongly recommend ignoring this app, but you can download it from the Microsoft Store now for free if you’re morbidly curious.

I used the Beta and it communicated with a server in China so I assume that it was developed in China.

There's a big clue if you look at version history on the official download site:

    https://pcmanager.microsoft.com/en-us/HistoryVersions

It appears that it was originally developed by Microsoft China for the Chinese market.

yeah there seems to be a connection to china for sure, knew about the app but didn't know about China.
pc manager made in china at DuckDuckGo

China is Dodgy the app wont be going anywhere near my lan. If it comes through Windows Update at some point then it will get blocked.

China is crazy on espionage on the computer they have a segregate internet and its geopolitical standings in the real world are cause for concern.

A family member years ago sent a laptop of theirs to a local computer shop without my knowledge i knew the computer shop and actually disliked the guy from previous dealings,
he was Asian when i found out i asked to look at the computer he installed a RAT on the computer and from analysis i found it was from China.

One other time he actually physically broke another friends computer by bending pins and other things on the motherboard that were not that way when it got sent there. Just so that he could get him to replace it, it was a top end computer of the time too and i told that friend not to send it there that guy has a bad rep.

Windows is supporting RAT in the OS now? Nah idk but China is dodgy lol. No offense to Chinese people either but its true you have a lot of crumby things happening in the online space like the 5 star/points system etc and overall the dictatorship you live under.

To note if it utilizes this https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/msix/overview in the application then there is cause for the app to be a self contained RAT basically the app has the potential to run self contained sort of like a VM or a sandbox but works seemlesssly to the user like a normal app.

There is high potential being a Microsoft application that it is using a lot of leading technology

Yeah the potential is there self contained app that is connecting to China, yeah no thanks.

Here is a read up of a MSiX RAT. How they work etc. Not saying that this is the case with pc manager because i don't know but i am saying choose your battle.
Windows PCs are being targeted with a nasty new malware - here's what you need to know | TechRadar

Why would it be concerning? because overall China is dictatorship and one that is censoring its internet from the world it is also dictating systems online that its citizens have to abide by like not to much time on the computer else it effects your social score. The social scoring system is something that sounds like control of the citizens in China. They are also bringing in a digital currency atm that ties to the social scoring system, meaning in time they will probably have means to control that currency if you have bad social rating meaning they can control or limit your money.

There is many other things that sound wrong with China and why Microsoft China is a whole different beast i don't think there is good reason to use something of this nature from a system that is policing its population but at the same time censoring and monitoring the outside world with its segregated internet.

China has its own Windows version and many Microsoft apps are locked in, in China like they are made only for China and are different from what the rest of the world gets.

White hat hacking is real and Microsoft just proves more and more that it is doing these methods.
