    Just to confirm to all folks here:

    -Clean installed Windows from fresh MCT yesterday;
    -KB5034441 installed as a normal update in WU;
    -Windows build 19045.4046, winre service build 3920, the last updated its date also yesterday;
    -Recovery partition remains as before - 546MB;
    -5034441 intends not to reinstall itself when you check manually for updates.

    I guess, has fixed something silently, not to be so ashamed...

    If you like you can label it as "Mike Tyson" and it has to be formatted.
    I'm asking questions because I want to learn as I go along. I like to know some things in case I have a problem or perhaps can help someone else in the future.

    Sometimes I see quotes when setting the id;
    set id="de94bba4-06d1-4d40-a16a-bfd50179d6ac"

    And sometimes no quotes.

    Which syntax is correct? Or does it matter?

    In this case it doesn't matter. It's important to watch the system response. It usually tells you if it was successful or not.

    I started to move the Recovery partition & got as far as deleting it. Now I have a 528MB unallocated partition before the "C".

    I used Windows Disk Management to reduce the size of "C" by 1024MB.

    I must have missed a step somewhere on how to move the 528MB to the right & combine it with the "C".
    I also made both of them a New Simple Volume but that did not help in moving.

    I'm trying to use MIniTool in order to move and/or merge the 2 unallocated partitions but am not having any success.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    You can't move the first to the end of the disk!. Now you have unallocated space at the end? Click on the black bar of the last partition and select new volume. Format as NTFS assign letter=R and label as Recovery. I told you some time before not to delete the first partition! If you didn't run reagentc /disable you probably have deleted the WinRE.wim
    check here: C:\Windows\System32\Recovery If there is no WinRE.wim you have to download an ISO first to get a new winre.wim

    If you know how to run a backup of the C-Partition only, you can do that first. Run a new Installation, run update and in the end you recover the C-backup to the new C-Partition. During setup delete all partitions

    The first thing I did was run reagentc /disable. But I do not see the WinRE.wim file.
    I did run "delete partition override" because everything says to do that. I did not delete the first partition per se because it's still there.

    I did make an image of the C: drive which has Windows 10. I used AOMEI and can view the image & it does show the Recovery partition. I presume I can restore any partition. If not I can restore the whole C: drive.

    Here's some screen shots. Please advise what to do.
    Thanks

    1. I would run a clean installation
    2. run reagentc /disable
    3. delete Partition 4
    4. extend/expand partition (C:) (3) leave the value as it is!
    5. shrink partition (C:) by 1024 MB (like in the above screenshot)
    6. rightclick the unallocated space and create new volume (NTFS)Label: Recovery
    7. Run diskpart
    sel disk 1
    sel par 4
    set id="de94bba4-06d1-4d40-a16a-bfd50179d6ac"
    gpt attributes=0x8000000000000001
    exit
    reagentc /enable
    verify:
    reagentc /info
    reboot
    run Windows update (this will update the winre.wim)
    Replace the (C:) Partition by the backup (C:) only
    You are ready
    This was wrong:

    KB5034441 Security Update for Windows 10 (21H2 and 22H2) - Jan. 9-2024-03-02_174825.png
    after diskpart type exit first! reagentc is not a diskpart command!

    Won't restoring the image do? I really rather not do a clean install of Windows10. I would have to re-install a lot of programs. At some point I'll do a clean install of Windows11 & devote the time to installing the programs then.

    Do I still do the "gpt attributes =0x8000000000000001" ?

    Any Idea why the WinRE.wim file was not saved?

    What happens to the original Recovery partition?

    Yes! Sorry I forgot
    gpt attributes=0x8000000000000001 (is added above now)
    When you restore the C-Image only the new Recovery and the winre.wim is not involved!
