System tells me It can't :

    Virtual Disk Service Error:
The specified reduction size is too large and the volume will be smaller
    than the minimum volume size.

Not sure this is what blocking the update here.

    Any comments are welcome. Thx

So still stuck with that update
The YouTube video tutorial is the same as the one given by Microsoft. Follow the Microsoft tutorial.

You have the error because your c: partition is full used at 100%. You need to make space by deleting/moving files.

    Here is the Microsoft tutorial:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...9-24c8229763bf

And don't forget the reagentc /disable command at the start of the tutorial.

To update with Windows Update you try several times, if that does not work you try with the troubleshooting utilities, you choose the utility to resolve problems with Windows Update. If that doesn't work, you re-enlarge the recovery partition and try Windows Update again, if that doesn't work, you try the Windows Update troubleshooter again, and so on.

Edit: And if bitlocker is activated on the c: partition, deactivate it before doing the tutorial.

Thanks for that. Will be my tomorrow's job

P.S. Yes BitLocker is enable on that partition (C:), maybe this is why I haven't been able to solve that issue untile now. I'll update.

I’ll add my experience being an novice with command prompt input, I started with a C partition size of 953.3 GB (only 67.33 GB used) and recovery partition size of 498 MB and failing install of KB503441. After trying disk management and computer management (both ran as admin), I wasn't able to make changes to recovery partition size in anyway but could reduce C partition by 500 MB creating an 5000 MB unallocated partition, but couldn’t find away to transfer that unallocated space to recovery partition with either of those win10 management tools. After looking at command prompt commands offered by others here and the MS offered commands to make needed partition size changes, because of the extent of order/amount of those commands I worried about possibility of making mistakes. So I finally choice to do as others here have suggested and downloaded MiniTool Partition Wizard Free 12.8 partition wizard (link below), below that is my experience from using that.

Best Free Partition Manager for Windows | MiniTool Partition Wizard Free

After executing the 3.1 MB downloaded file and un-checking other offerings with it, only leaving partition management control still checked, when installed the program only consumes 179 MB of C drive after the 3.1 download file is deleted.

When MiniTool was open I simply highlighted the recovery partition (left click) and then picked Extend Partition from list on left side, that activated popup window with pull down to select drive to remove space from, defaulted to C drive in my case since that was only one with available space. Below that was a slide bar to control amount of space to move, which I could only get down to 1.6 GB (IIRC) without being zero (close enough). Below side bar now showed new size of partition3 (recovery) will be and what new size of partition C will be. Selected OK in that window, the main windows then showed what all partition sizes would be if you select “Apply” at lower left of program. When you hit “apply” it will then move to where you have to authorize a restart of system, during which time you’ll see changes being made on black monitor screen and after that a restart to your normal desktop. Quick check with disk management will confirm the recovery partition was enlarged to selected amount, 1.3 GB in my case (little below the 1.6 it showed) and partition C reduced by same amount.

That entire process from opening of MiniTool and then a successful install of KB503441 after retry took less than 15 minutes (happy camper), time might vary depending of space used of drive removed from which in my case was low. Hope this helps some near my knowledge level of operating systems.
This was absolutely the most helpful post I found on this troublesome KB503441! Following these instructions I easily resized the recovery partition and got the update installed. Thank you!

    OK.
You should leave bitlocker disabled while you try to install the KB.

In Post #127 I told you that you have to disable Bitlocker!
In post #129 I gave you the right commands

In attachment of your post #132 you see that it was successful
    KB5034441 Security Update for Windows 10 (21H2 and 22H2) - Jan. 9-capture2.jpg
In post #189 you prove that the most critical part, the WinRE.wim replacement was successful.

    "Emplacement WinRE*: \\?\GLOBALROOT\device\harddisk0\partition4\Recovery\WindowsRE
Identificateur des données de configuration du démarrage (BCD)*: 3634fbc7-defd-11ea-ba35-9fba07f19534"

In post #210 I gave you the final step. YOU DIDN'T DO THAT!

And now you start at point "ZERO" again. YOU DON't HAVE TO INCREASE THE SIZE OF PARTITION 4
! YOU still have Bitlocker enabled!
But there is one thing that you prove! You don't follow instructions!

I'm lost @Pentagone, maybe you experienced that some years ago when you were not so experienced ?

Please, do not be angry with a noob, I do not want to disturb you much more. You helped me as you could and as I said that has been much appreciated. I am still looking to solve that F°*ing issue even if my system is stable without that update. Crtitics should go to MSFT, not to me and you.

    Cheers

    Another take on the problem!

Firstly, thanks everyone for the preceding posts which set me on the right track 👍
I’m posting this as I’ve got another set of odd behaviours surrounding this issue. (I haven't read the whole thread - just enough to get me started on the issue)

So I have several machines running Win 10 Pro – one of them got this error. Turned out that the Recovery partition was only 300mb.

The issue was fixed by using Windows Disk Management to shrink the System partition and create space to then use MiniTool Partition Wizard Free 12.8 to expand the Recovery partition to 1GB]

So far, no surprises, based on others experiences.

I have another old DELL Inspiron 1520 laptop running Win 10 HOME – this got weird!
The following in italics is my exact procedure to sort the issue, initially based on the above.

    MANUAL check for updates
All offered MS Cumulative and routine updates downloaded and installed except
    KB5034441 Security Update - Download error - 0x80070643 - known MS issue
    Restarted - Winver 22H2 (OS Build 19045.3930)

Windows Disk Management showed me that I had NO Recovery partition, however I attempted to fix by using Windows Disk Management to shrink the System partition and create space to then use MiniTool Partition Wizard Free 12.8 to create a Recovery partition of 1GB

However, neither MiniTool Partition Wizard Free 12.8 nor AOMEI will CREATE a new Recovery partition where there is none!!!!!

Ran in-situ Windows installation - restart requested
    Restarted - Winver 22H2 (OS Build 19045.3803)
Still have 1GB of unpartitioned space on the drive

    MANUAL check for updates
All offered MS Cumulative and routine updates (including KB5034441) downloaded and installed - restart requested
    Restarted - Winver 22H2 (OS Build 19045.3930)
MANUAL check for updates “You're up to date"

(Leave the unpartitioned 1GB space on the drive pro-tem)
sfc /scannow - corrupt files found and fixed
sfc /scannow (again) - no integrity violations found

    As I said, another variation on a theme....Windows - a never-ending source of "fun"

And I quite agree with some of the comments about MS's response to this issue - abysmal! Good job surgeons don't adopt the same principles!

However, neither MiniTool Partition Wizard Free 12.8 nor AOMEI will CREATE a new Recovery partition where there is none!!!!!
The first can create a partition- but not a Recovery partition in particular.
Aomei ? Backupper? or Partition Assistant? If the 2nd, the same applies as it does to any partition manager.

If the first, it can only restore an existing imaged Recovery Partition.

There are posts in the thread that attempt to state how to create one.

I had deleted the Recovery Partition on 3 computers since I could rely on install media for recovery functions, but got tired of seeing the error message on WU. So I re-created a Recovery Partition and got the update on each. Now I'm tempted to delete them again to regain the space, but am afraid Microsoft will decide to do another update at some point. Guess it's best to just leave them in place.
