    @john7
    diskpart
    create partition primary size=1024 ID=27
    format quick fs=ntfs label="Recovery"
    assign letter="R"
    exit

You need a drive letter if you have to copy the winre.wim to the partition!!
After the first reboot it usually disappears!!!

    The WinRE.wim should be there:
    C:\Windows\System32\Recovery\Winre.wim
    If yes,
    cmd (admin)
    mkdir R:\Recovery\WindowsRE
    xcopy /h C:\Windows\System32\Recovery\Winre.wim R:\Recovery\WindowsRE
    xcopy /h C:\Windows\System32\boot.sdi R:\Recovery\WindowsRE

If there is no WinRE.wim you need an ISO as a source!
    otherwise:
    cmd (admin)
    Reagentc /setreimage /path R:\Recovery\WindowsRE /target C:\Windows
    reagentc /enable
    reagentc /info

This situation is appalling. If it does not supply an automatic fix to cure or prevent this problem, Microsoft will have effectively disabled Windows for its many home non-tech Windows 10 users. Almost all of us do not use BitLocker but Microsoft still stubbornly tries to force KB5034441 on us.

People, especially old people, will have their lives ruined by the effects of KB5034441 on us now that is almost impossible to not do many things online. That includes me. This is perhaps an inevitable result of making updates compulsory.

The solution is simple. KB5034441 should be withdrawn and then modified so that it cannot mess up Windows 10 systems which do not need it. Why was KB5034441 not able to check if BitLocker is in use on their Windows 10 devices? I am amongst those users.
Believe me, I understand your frustration. This is beyond ridiculous, but calm down. It installed fine on my older Windows 10 machine. If it hadn't I just would have used the "hide updates" utility and moved on.

all these instructions will erase what was on the partition.
You must enlarge the partition without losing data. See the instructions are in CZ.

Just to chime in: deployed this CU lot earlier today - out of curiosity really, normally would hold on up until early next week - and it all installed without any problems after couple of restarts.

For what it's worth: my PC has original setup & configuration partition-wise - as supplied by HP in Jan 2017 - with (obviously) all Windows 10 upgrades & CUs deployed on a regular basis. RE partition is 980MB and as far as I know always been that way. The only (notable?) deviation from that is that my RE is not exactly operational, I think - or at least cannot be invoked using F11 via boot menu. This is the result of me moving cloning / expanding partitions as I kept upgrading OS SSDs over the years (128 GB -> 256 GB -> 512 GB -> 1 TB).

That’s now created it, no Winre.wim R:\Recovery\WindowsRE. Also though I have a old MS media USB cant find it on that either. KB5034441 Now comes up as install but fails.

Would copy from another W10 laptop or Desk work? The desk has been updated and the other laptop I know has a recovery partition on it but as yet not updated just stopped updates on it. Is so would MiniTool do I from a USB stick?

Iv given up and creating a Media creation to reinstall W10. Been much quicker in the first place and haven't done it on this old laptop so may well be worth doing anyway. Thanks for help.

I just downloaded and used the mini-tool partition manager - just to play around as I have always wanted to try it out.

    Works great!

The issue I have with that application is:
I checked do not send data usage info
I checked the do not show again on the advertising popup to purchase the pro version.

I reboot the first time (resize c drive - even though I didn't have to I wanted to try out the tool) (before I unchecked anything I mentioned above).
    All good.
I resize the second time (to put things back the way they were) but before I did I unchecked the things I mentioned above.
    All good. Reboot.
When logging into Windows after the seconds reboot I get a security certificate warning.
Something wants to install the security certificate that will allow it to bypass my dns blocker protection on my firewall (Pfsense/pfblockerng). WFT?
    No to all that.
Uninstall mini-tool and delete traces from rot drive and registry.
Reboot=no more security certificate install prompt.

    I won't trust it again.
I may be wrong about it but, it IS suspicious so no more.
