Must the Recovery partition be the last one on the disk for this to succeed?

Whilst the Recovery partition immediately follows the Windows partition, it is then followed by a further partition.

So I'm wondering if anyone's got this to succeed in this case?

    Thanks!
Just now checking in from this time zone and seeing after success with KBKB5034441 what I believe is the correct circumstance you're asking about, where the Recovery Partition is followed by another partition, to perhaps eliminate that from your list of suspects:

    KB5034441 Security Update for Windows 10 (21H2 and 22H2) - Jan. 9-diskmanagmentforkbkb5034441.jpg

Worth noting: I did HAVE trouble at first with multiple immediate failures even after using Mini-tool to expand the Recovery Partition to 1.08Gb until I finally rebooted where it then sat at Installing %0 for a while before successful completion. Whether that reboot was actually necessary or not, in World of Windows who knows?

How do I expand my recovery partition when it's like this?

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>diskpart

    Microsoft DiskPart version 10.0.19041.3636

    Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation.
    On computer: WINDOWS10

    DISKPART> list disk

Disk ### Status Size Free Dyn Gpt

    Disk 0 Online 40 GB 0 B *

    DISKPART> sel disk 0

Disk 0 is now the selected disk.

    DISKPART> list part

    Partition ### Type Size Offset

Thanks! On my second PC I've found there's odd behaviour of the advanced startup options- hanging at 'Please Wait' when I tried booting to a command prompt or System Restore (hadn't tried that for years...). That's despite copying in a valid WinRE.wim before I'd noticed that. Somewhat randomly ran Macrium's Fixboot and now only have options to boot to Safe Mode- which work. Command Prompt, System Restore have disappeared- which I've now got back after a couple of restarts and reagentc /enable, which didn't work at first.

    Back to 'Please wait..' though..

So that problem- whatever it is- probably relates to the update failing on that PC...
Oddly there's no 'thank' button appearing at all now...
