    @ferrarabrainpan
This is exactly that what I expected
    If you run
    cmd
    reagentc /boottore
and reboot normaly you should run the Recovery Environment.
If that happens everything was successful!
Don*t care about the unallocated space.
You can format it and you have a nice place for small stuff like driver backups, ISOs etc.

Can I remove Drive letter for Recovery partition?

    Hi,

I used Disk Management to shrink my boot partition by 500MB. Then I ran through the steps in KB5028997: Instructions to manually resize your partition to install the WinRE update, except for the Shrink step.
I did manage to increase the size of my Recovery Partition & Windows Update KB5034441 is now successfully installed.

However, the recovery partition is no longer labeled "Disk 0 Partition 3", it now has a drive letter (F:). I imagine it comes from the Diskpart command "format quick fs=ntfs label=”Windows RE tools” I entered. Is this correct? Can I just remove drive letter (F:) using Disk Management?

    @dogpark
    run cmd (admin)
    mountvol F: /d
    and you are ready

    You should run
    diskpart
    sel disk 0
    sel par 3
    set ID=0x27
    exit

It's interesting that even a clean install doesn't create a big enough Recovery Partition and has the same problem.

Windows 10 KB5034441 Security Update Fails With 0x80070643 Errors | Bleeping Computer
In a test by Bleeping Computer this morning, a brand new install of Windows 10 using the latest ISO from Microsoft created a 522 MB WinRE partition. However, even this new install has a partition that is too small, causing the KB5034441 security update not to install and display a 0x80070643 error.

It's normal as long as you use the old MCT. Even an Inplace Upgrade does not solve the problem.
I hope that MS will correct that soon

Recovery Partitions are protected. So you have to change the ID.
    So run cmd (admin)
    diskpart
    sel disk 0
    sel par 1
    set id="ebd0a0a2-b9e5-4433-87c0-68b6b72699c7"
    exit

Now you have only 1 Recovery Partition
In the next step you have to shrink the C-Partition
    diskpart
    sel disk 0
    sel par 4
    SHRINK DESIRED=500
    exit

copy & paste the above commands
check the result before you continue
    DISKPART> sel disk 0

Disk 0 is now the selected disk.

    DISKPART> sel par 1

Partition 1 is now the selected partition.

    DISKPART> set id="ebd0a0a2-b9e5-4433-87c0-68b6b72699c7"

DiskPart successfully set the partition ID.

    DISKPART> exit

    Leaving DiskPart...

    DISKPART> sel disk 0

Disk 0 is now the selected disk.

    DISKPART> sel par 4

Partition 4 is now the selected partition.

    DISKPART> SHRINK DESIRED=500

DiskPart successfully shrunk the volume by: 500 MB

    DISKPART> exit

    Leaving DiskPart...

    ---- RESULT:-----

    @Emer
That looks great and is exactly that, what is needed.

But right now it's 2 o'clock in the night and I need my bed now.
Will be back tomorrow to resize the Recovery Partition.

Once you have it down to "one" Recovery partition, we then shrink the C: drive 500GB, and then add that 500GB to the Recovery partition. Then re-try the update and it will work.

    Attachment 403270

Using Minitool Partition Wizard (free)... MiniTool Partition Wizard Free | The Best Partition Manager for Windows ... do the following....

    1. Right click the C:\ drive and choose move/resize
    2. Then, on the windows that pops up, grab the arrow on the far right side and slide it 500MB to the left.
    3. Then, in the lower left, click apply. The computer will want to reboot to do this. That's normal.
    4. Once back on the Desktop, open Minitool and this time right click on the "Recovery partition" and choose move/resize.
    5. Then on the window that pops up, grab the arrow on the "left" side, and slide it till "Unallocated space before" reads: 0.00 GB
    6. In the lower left corner of Minitool, click on Apply.

Now your Recovery partition should be 500MB bigger. So re-try the update, and it should work.

When you clean install Windows 10, it will look something like this...

    Attachment 403271

To make the Recovery partition 500MB bigger (BLUE arrow), we first have to make the Windows partition, 500 MB smaller (RED arrow), so there's room to increase the size of the Recovery partition.
After extending the Recovery Partition to 1000 MB, the KB5034441 update sits on 0%, then eventually says "Complete".

This is interesting information that I didn't know about. I only have 56 MB of free space in my Recovery Environment partition on my Windows 11 computer.

For Windows operating systems later than Windows 10, version 2004 or Windows Server 2022, the partition must have at least 200 MB of free space.

When you do a clean install of Windows after this KB, the security flaw will be fixed and integrated into the Windows ISO, the recovery partition will be smaller. You have to enlarge it when you need to update it during use.
