The programs lagging on launch problem seems to have disappeared, after a reboot. I also did a full shutdown and boot and things still seem normal. Hibernate, and fast boot with it, are still disabled. There have been some random reports about similar issues after updates where these symptoms appear randomly after power cycles, but it's possible they only affected the file explorer and not all apps.

Various small changes that are apparent from a GUI point of view have occurred:
    Addition of
    - the (useless) "Windows Back Up" app
    - 'System' badges to some apps as shown in Win 10's start menu
    - Remote Desktop Connection - exists in the Control Panel

There are far more Win 10 users out there than Win 11. The more significant changes are occurring in Win 11.
Some of these are backported to Win 10.

And wait for it: Co-pilot is coming to Win 10 too.
Microsoft plans to bring Copilot to Windows 10

But as I expect you know- there will be no more major feature updates for Win 10.

A guess MS wants people to feel the migration from Win 10 to Win 11 is easier- familiarity, to some degree.
Plus maybe MS wants feedback from user experience on some features- more feedback from a larger user base.
(Did I mention telemetry there? Oops. shouldn't have mentioned that )
That bigger feedback pool is the most likely reason. There can't be another to justify investing any extra resources on an OS that will be abandoned in less than two years - if the security updates will actually cease then. If not, it might then make sense to encourage people to migrate to 11 by making the 10 experience worse. If MS wanted to test features with the bigger pool, they'd introduce them on Windows10 first, making the 10-users beta testers. Right now they seem to appear simultaneously or they get backported into 10 later.

I had previously uninstalled the userexperience pack, a documented method to get rid of the new
"Windows Backup". Before installing KB5032189, I first reinstalled the feature pack, did the update,
rebooted and uninstalled the feature pack once again

    NEW 11/16/23
IMPORTANT Because of minimal operations during the Western holidays and the upcoming new year, there won’t be a non-security preview release for the month of December 2023. There will be a monthly security release for December 2023. Normal monthly servicing for both security and non-security preview releases will resume in January 2024.

    Update Breaks Start Button

    Hey Guys,

This update breaks my start button. Notifications Panel won't open either.

StartMenuExperienceHost.exe will not run even if I try to start it manually.

I tried every fix I could find online and it all just made things worse.

Trying to uninstall the update through the UI was unsuccessful.

I had to do a system restore, Thank You Backup and Restore (Windows 7)! and disable windows updates.

I don't use any start menu customization programs. I actually like the windows 10 start menu in full screen mode. I do use custom tiles I make with MyTile. (MyTile Lets You Create Windows 10 Custom Tiles - Technastic)

Has anyone ran into this and figured out how to fix it?

FYI Disabling Windows Updates now also disables "Windows Defender Security Intelligence" updates. This causes defender to try and use mpcmdrun.exe to download the files. As this exe can be used by hackers to download just about anything, it's not a good idea to allow it internet access but, if you block it in the firewall, defender will flag the firewall rule as a "threat" and remove it.

I use Windows Firewall Control on top of the stock firewall and it is set to block everything without an allow rule and block the creation of rules by any other program. I can't create the block rule without defender having a shitfit but I can suppress the notifications so, it's still effectively blocked.

The WDSI can easily be manully updated by downloading a small file and running it from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/defenderupdates.

Hi, good that you're using SR and imaging.

You have Pro. Did you know you can use Group Policy to
    - block the receipt of Preview updates altogether
    - set updates to 'Notify' - so no WU is downloaded unless you approve it?

Those deal with some of your concerns. I assume you've used an inappropriate method to disable WU.

Backup and Restore (Windows 7) - good that you're using imaging- are you aware MS says this is deprecated and recommends users turn to far more robust and maintained, supported and documented 3rd party imaging solutions?
