    @Brink,

    I'm sorry to quibble but, as I've just had to point out an error in this News article's title block to a user in another thread, I thought I should point it out in this thread as well.
    KB5017308 is not Cumulative Update Preview - September 13, 2022 but Cumulative Update - September 13, 2022.

    All the best,
    Denis

    @goopy,
    That is pretty common with a build that has so many updates even if you just get a single edition.
    When you download from uup-dump you can specify install.esd compression instead on install.wim and that should fit and be below the 4GiB size limit.
    Attachment 375270

    You can also convert the install.wim to install.esd with the DISM command or split it into two .svm files

    Convert install.wim to install.esd:
    dism /export-image /SourceImageFile:"D:\Temp\install.wim" /SourceIndex:1 /DestinationImageFile:"D:\Temp\install.esd" /Compress:recovery /CheckIntegrity

    Note that the SourceIndex number can change depending on the original file that could have a single edition or multiple editions, the index number will point to the one you want.

    Split install.wim to install.swm and install2.svm:
    Dism /Split-Image /ImageFile:"D:\Temp\install.wim" /SWMFile:"D:\Temp\install.swm" /FileSize:4000

    Yes, it's very common & has been for several Versions now.
    - It has affected ISOs for new Versions not just UUP-Dumps that incorporate CUs into them.

    I now use this method:
    Create a Fat32 InstallUSB from a Windows ISO file - my post #537 - TenForumsTutorials

    This method also exists:
    Create bootable USB installer if install.wim is greater than 4GB - TenForumsTutorials

    Or you can use an ISO editor to replace the big install.wim with the converted install.esd or the install.svm plus install2.svm.
    Then you can just create the FAT32 install media from the modified ISO.
    Thanks for the kind reply, fg2001gf10F and Try3.
    1. Download the latest 19045.2130 from uupDump, and yes, the install.wim stilll exceeds the FAT32 file size limit. Will be using esd in future. Just curious, is it guaranteed to fit?
    2. Would you know if the 19045.2130 from uupDump is the official release of 22H2? Is it safe to run Windows10.0-KB5015684-x64.cab to convert from 22H1?
    Thanks and best regards,

    19045 is still a Release Preview for 22H2, nothing officially released for G.A. yet.

    No, nothing is guaranteed.
    But, if install.esd was to be more than 4GB, MS would have to find a solution to allow their MCT to create installation USBs.
