Wow! One person claims, despite all the wording in MS's own documents, that MS is NOT spying and, surprise, surprise, all the MS "fans" jump on the bandwagon exclaiming -- heay, right!!

Once again, unlike some of those who have claimed MS is spying by citing quotations from MS's own documents, the author of this article simply says there is nothing in there. A simple, cursory reading of MS's documents shows that this author's claim is nothing more than pro-MS smokescreen.

And, once again, another MS fan uses slurs like "tinfoil hat".

What needs to be done is a test from a 3 party at an independent lab to see what is & isn't transmitted online if any that would solve the issue for those worried about using 10 for banking, & shopping. Also, do the same for those windows 7 & 8.1 with the telemetry updates installed. It is spreading that Microsoft doing the same things with those.

Maybe we will all find out when we hear from the top privacy group in U.K. and the U.S. (EFF).
I think the only way to really know what's going on is credible independent testing because I don't think MS is going to spell it out for us.

I would like to know a couple of things.

    1. What data collection and remote operation is MS capable of and I mean full capabilities.
    2. What data collection is going on a routine basis for the typical W10 PC user.

Would probably a US Supreme Court decision to get answers to those questions.

Bottom Line is, I don't believe anyone here knows other than pure speculation. There are a lot of opinions being formed on both sides and in between regarding the data gathering/spying issue, I would like to know the facts then make an informed decision.

You can turn off many of the tracking systems in Win 10 if you're really that worried:

No, Microsoft is not spying on you with Windows 10-disabletracking.jpg

Right click and run as admin. I suggest disabling not deleting; will be prompted to restart after making changes.

Note this will disable Cortana and Bing searches, local searches will still be available.

People should learn and Disable everything from Settings > Privacy.

Just because they hear that Windows 10 is collecting the data then they should also understand Google is doing the same when you search anything daily.
