Only changes the version number, really.

Those who downloaded and installed KB5014666 can activate version 22H2 using several commands in Command Prompt.
    KB5014666 Windows 10 19042.1806, 19043.1806, 19044.1806

After installing KB5014666, I went to the Neowin article just below, and simply followed the instructions.
Notes listing things I did or noticed are just under the Neowin link.

    Article with instructions and commands...
Optional updates confirm Windows 10 22H2 is coming - Neowin

I copy/pasted all the commands (in link above), all at one time, and hit Enter.
They all completed successfully, except the last one... I had to hit Enter again, then the last one completed successfully.

Checked Windows Updates again... nothing new.
Rebooted, then checked WU again... nothing new.
Ran sfc /scannow again... and it came up clean.

    This is unofficial.
It didn't break anything on MY computer, but there is no official help if it does break something on YOUR computer.
If you plan to try this... make a backup first.

    USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

As far as I can tell, all this did was change the version numbers a bit.
However, I have a lot of things disabled, and there's a lot of things I don't use in Windows 10.
    So your mileage may differ.

Ok, I just tried to do KB5015807 (today's update).
Windows Update said there weren't any updates for me. I was on 10945.1806

So... I manually downloaded today's update and it installed.
After reboot... Winver said I was still on 19045.1806
But... Windows Update history, said that KB5015807 installed successfully.

Anyway... I restored from a backup from before the 22H2 Enablement Package, then ran today's update.

So... long story short... don't use the 22H2 enablement package.
It might work on the Insider channel... I don't know.

    Note: KB5015807 Windows 10 19042.1826, 19043.1826, 19044.1826

after we spoke last and i installed the KB5014666 and Neowin update on my crappy lappy i cant comment any further in regard to this new update as i'm waiting for RAM to be delivered for this machine and it is disassembled

i didnt install KB5014666 on my good lappy, this one, and now today the KB5015807 arrived.

the KB5014666 was visible as an optional update up until this morning when KB5015807 arrived and now the KB5014666 has disappeared, thank god, glad i didnt install it first up now i have to get off my crappy lappy when i get it up and running, hopefully this week.

this laptop, my good one is set to not update beyond 21H2 via registry tweak until i feel its ready to do so, i DONT want Windows 11.

no need to do all the above anymore.

"standalone" 22H2 enablement packages (that are NOT included in recent CUs - released as KB5015684) are recently available - check the MDL forums and read this post by abbodi (only MDL forum users can see the links to these standalone 22H2 EPs)

edit - or check this page

As the folks at Neowin said... just wait for it to show up in Windows Update.
Should happen in early September 2022.
