sort of like exploratory surgery for me.......

all the above was done on my "crappy lappy", my secondary machine i test on to see how stuff goes before i risk my good machine, the one i'm on now, which is set to update no further than 21H2 through registry settings (regedit).

maybe also to blaze a trail, give feedback to maybe assist other users if they wish to go down this road

its all fun n games till someone loses an eye......

I wonder what's the point in going from 21H2 to 22H1 if there aren't any significative changes.
    "22H2"

This is why I use a drive bay in my desktop. Slide in a SSD with a image of the GOOD drive and see what happens....Saved my butt a couple of times.

Desktop update failed on first try second try completed, but SFC found and corrected issues.
    Laptop update went fine.

This update is trashing my USB printers and scanner connections. Getting multiple copies of the printers, scanner won’t run.

Restored to previous backup image, everything is fine, installed update again, USBs bad again.

    Anyone else?

    EDIT:

In the beginning of this thread, this is listed as a highlight........

"New! Introducing the following Print and Scan features:

    • IPP over USB support – Microsoft has supported Internet Print Protocol (IPP) for network printers starting in 2018 with the release of Windows 10, version 1809. We are now expanding IPP support to USB printers."

Could this have anything to do with my problems?

That's weird. My printers and scanners seem fine (on both PCs I have got).
