Interesting, on 2 computers it was downloaded and installed and rebooted without any errors...
But, it came back as .1766 instead of .1806...
And checking settings Update History it shows:
    Attachment 369935
A successful installation, go figure it.

I know it makes no sense, but KB5014699 came out on July 14th and gave us .1766
    KB5014699 Windows 10 19042.1766, 19043.1766, 19044.1766

THEN... KB5014666 came out today and gave us .1806
    Pretty sure KB5014699 is/was a prerequisite for KB5014666.

And as far as my Update History shows, KB5014666 (today), overwrote KB5014699 (from the 14th).
Only WAU Manager still shows the update from the 14th.
Both Windows Update History and powershell get-hotfix, ONLY show today's update.

    KB5014666 Windows 10 19042.1806, 19043.1806, 19044.1806-image1.png

I think if you run Windows Update again... it will give you 1904x.1806, or it will fail, and revert back to .1766

Thanks for the clarification, now it makes more sense!
I actually downloaded/installed the KB .msu file and it shows .1806 as it is supposed to.

No. It's a regular update preview, for July patch Tuesday I assume.
I did the Preview patch first, then I was messing around with those commands from Neowin.
Like it says in the article... the changes they make don't DO anything except change what Winver says.

ok thats where i got confused, the Neowin article to run the command prompt to finish upgrade, if i read that right.

to clarify the machine wont show 22H2 till them commands are initiated through command prompt...?

    Correct.
All the Neowin stuff is in post #5

All the normal update stuff I did is in post #3

I'm gonna move that other post to it's own topic. It's too confusing in here.
