    Hi everyone

Now installing as a VM (64 bit version) - if that goes OK I'll try it on a Surface Pro 3 as a HOST and see what's working (touch wise).

Anybody have any problems with the "Standard" type of programs such as Office 2010 / 2013, Photoshop and the other "usual" candidates.

It's one thing to INSTALL an OS but we need to see if our usual applications run OK.

Also what about running Windows 10 as HOST with a Windows 7 / XP / 8.1 as a Virtual machine. - I NEED my XP VM still. I'll try that later too.

    Cheers

I have office 2010 installed without any issue, still setting my laptop up on the work domain so i will have many more apps installed soon.

Not sure if this has been answered before - but does W10 boot to start screen by default on touch devices? i.e is device recognition functional.

ok, i have put my start screen back, got used to it. I am just wondering what is the difference between this and 8.1. I am unable to see anything that would make me buy it. as i said before i know it is early days but gee.

If you have it set to use the start screen, do store apps still run on the desktop?

this is one thing I need to check before I do a torturous download, can store apps run as they do in win 8, full screen with no taskbar

Why don't you try the DVD way?

DVD is a lot simpler to make (but longer a little bit). I made both DVD (with Image Burn) and USB (with Rufus). Both works perfectly.
I might do that, I'll have to look and see if I have a blank DVD kicking around somewhere. I used the same thumb drive on my laptop and 10 installed just fine on it.

Yes they do anywhere you start them from, They run almost like an desktop application or program. They are scalable to some extent (found some can't scale down as much as normal desktop programs can). There's also minimize, maximize and close buttons on top right of top bar.

I installed the TP for Enterprise on my laptop and it boots to desktop. "Go to desktop instead of start" is checked by default and greyed out. I can't uncheck it. Touch pad but no touch screen. It doesn't really answer your question but just something I noticed that's relative to what you asked.

Thanks but that is the opposite of what I want

I am after store apps running as they do in 8, I don't want to see them on the desktop, just as full screen

My laptop is a combined Touch/Keyboard & Mouse, when I use it via touch, I do not want to see the desktop at all

Right. My post on another thread:

"LOL. Keep your wallet closed and watch this space.. I have been fumbling with it for a day now.

I am beginning to think this is a question of "the quickness of the (programmers) hand decieves the eye"

Two major complaints (which I did not support) were the absence of a start menu and windowing. These two problems have been addressed in windows X.
Apart from that? I am looking at Windows 8, Update 3. (Or should we call it October update - lol again)
