Won't install on my desktop PC. It's regular BIOS, no UEFI. I booted from a USB thumb drive and just get a black screen with a flashing cursor. Tried Rufus and the Windows 7 DVD download tool. The ISO I have is listed as WindowsTechnicalPreview-x64-EN-US 3.81 GB. MSDN lists a en_windows_technical_preview_x64_dvd_5552500.iso 3.81 GB and a en_windows_technical_preview_for_enterprise_x64_dvd_5554079 3.7 GB. I'm downloading the two MSDN ISO's for another go at it. I'm going to use one of the MSDN ISO's this time. I'm not sure which one I'm going to use though.
Don't know if you have seen this but Shawn has put a tutorial together

"This tutorial will show you step by step on how to do a clean install of Windows 10 Technical Preview with or without UEFI."

Installed in a 2Gb VM, activated and setup everything from my Microsoft account, I don't think it could have been any simpler.

I've seen those, I can just about do a clean install with my eyes closed, UEFI or normal BIOS. I don't need a tutorial for that, thanks for the link anyway. I'm no stranger to making bootable thumb drives either. I've used Rufus in the past with no issues, same thing with the Windows 7 DVD download tool. My two laptops are UEFI and my desktops have normal BIOS. This is the first time I've had an install fail like that. My post was more to see if anyone else had the same issue than anything else. I'm thinking my ISO download is corrupt so I'll try again with one downloaded via MSDN this time. I'm creating the bootable thumb drive as I type this. It's 53% done. I post back with how this works in a bit.

Nope, won't install on my desktop PC. Same thing happened with my MSDN ISO. When I boot from the thumb drive all I get is a black screen with a flashing cursor. Waited a good 5 min this time before bailing out. The same thumb drive boots up into setup just fine on my laptop though? I made the thumb drive with the Windows 7 USB DVD download tool. My ASUS laptop is fine with doing a UEFI install with an NTFS formatted drive. My Acer laptop isn't though so I usually use Rufus for it. Looks like I'm going to do my install on my laptop. It would have been more fun on my desktop PC as it has three monitors.

EDIT: Installed fine on my laptop.

Well, Windows Store isn't working for me. It opens, but anytime I try to install something I get "Something happened and this app couldn't be installed. Please try again. Error Code: 0x80070005"

Tried that. Unfortunately, right clicking and clicking on "Properties" does absolutely nothing anymore on anything that's not a shortcut. That's a bit weird.

How do I set this up on a VM ?
I have not used a VM since the days of XP so I don't remember how and don't know the latest one to use.
Will this one work from MG's: Download VMware Player - MajorGeeks

    Is there something else ?
