This update is crap, it broke a few .NET programs I use and even broke its own Event Viewer... MS quality control at its finest.

I had 3 .Net updates before KB5013942 installed, on April 12: KB5012117 and April 25: KB5012157 and the 3rd .Net update just before KB5013942: KB5013624. IMO if you missed any of these 3 .Net updates KB5013624 may not install properly.

this update fixed all my problems i've been having for months trying to get past 18363.1556.

i downloaded the standalone from MUC ran it today, had to run it twice to get to latest version but now my machine is current 19044.1706.

i then checked updates through settings and came back with a MALICIOUS TOOL update and 3.5 & 4.8 .NET framework updates, all installed fine and running perfectly.

Just finished here running without any issues.
Last night for the first time I let the downloads start and went to bed.

This morning I did the required restart.
Noticed for what I think is the first for me the System reported after the restart/install that it was cleaning up.
    I'm sitting at 21H2 build 19044.1706

Guys i have a question, possibly a dumb one but i'll go ahead.

Usually when updates install for me through WU first thing it says "Downloading" and then a grey button "Install Now".

But today i turned ON my PC and when i returned i found that this KB was automatically installed without the "Install Now" prompt popping up before restarting the PC with "Getting updates ready".

Normally i have that grey "Install Now" option every time, but today it just went and installed automatically without that option even being there.

Also it did a "Cleaning up" after "Getting updates ready".

Did the install went normal for me ?

Not really sure that's why i'm asking.

    Hi, Mikey.

It sounds perfectly normal to me.

The update was pushed yesterday, and you likely started your PC this morning outside normal hours. That is why it auto downloaded everything. Nothing to worry about.

As for the "Cleaning up", I had the same thing yesterday with this update. You don't always see this. I've only seen it a few times. Again, normal behavior.

You have nothing to worry about.

If you wish, type winver, into your taskbar search, open it, and it will display what version you currently have.

After this update, the version is 19044.1706.

    Best regards.

Anyone else got a rainbow and windmill in the bottom left search box? How do I turn this off?

    KB5013942 Windows 10 19042.1706, 19043.1706, 19044.1706-image.png

I think it appeared after 19044.1706 or with a UK language pack today?

    HI, MUser.

    I don't have it.

If you want to try to hide it... Right click on it > Search > Check 'Show Icon'. That should remove the entire search box, leaving only the search icon.

I hope this helps resolve it for you.

Yeah but like having the full search box as I use it frequently. Seems MS are pushing something nobody asked for again :)
