You know what's better than 16 cores? 32 cores? Dual core is so 2006. Turn it up to 11!

Hi folks

Fine but with some of the processors being used in Mobile phones that are incredibly powerful- I'm surprised we haven't seen laptops etc using these instead of Intel or AMD. There's enough ARM versions of Windows now out there. I know you can run Windows on Raspbian boxes etc. The built in video on a lot of phones is also very good indeed -- seems an obvious step to take --especially for "Micro Format" type PC's.

Here where I live (in New Zealand) these things are $NZ1300! Throw in a RTX 3090ti which are $NZ4000!! Chuck in a new 1000 watt plus PSU and a power station on the front lawn and I'd be all set......

Absolutely not!

The Apple M1 chip is designed by ARM - not my favorite by a long shot.
The M1 is based on ARM architecture (arm64), so it needs to use an emulator, or a software-translation layer, to run Intel (x86-64) apps.

VMware, Outlook won't run on it and other programs, just yet.

List of apps that are not working with M1 macbook

Software Translation Layer = Performance Hit = Increase Clock To Compensate, among other things.

Next, Apple picked the wrong name for their new processor - the M1 - they did not really do their research, lol:

I like this.
Only means AMD will have to sleep less and think on something to stay top of the line.

Still, I personally feel uneasy with this. Companies are chugging processors as we aren't in a silicon shortage...

We should be aiming for eficiency rather than just pushing stuff mindlessly...

Just my 2 cents tho.
