The point is it's not 7's start and it can't be made that way easily via existing menus,
Text instead of icons on the right side should be a basic setting imho and I left feedback on that point,
Doubt it will do any good but who knows :/

I'm going to say it as I see it. Please keep in mind that I've not a chance to install 10 yet due to faulty PSU and awaiting shipment.

This is by no means a judgment call, but rather a observation. I see there's a lot of 7F members getting active here expecting 10 to be there "savior" from 8.x and be a whole lot more like 7. Also, they may be somewhat perplexed about aspects of the system because they don't know 8.x all that well, if at all. 10 simply cannot be another "totally desktop" 7, but it's more like it than the 8s were. I see it as a compromise OS.

It's no secret that I'm a great proponent of 8.1 and the direction MS is heading. Their ultimate goal is one OS to run across multiple devices. From a business standpoint they must infiltrate the mobile market for there's huge profits to be made. On the other hand they must appease what turns out to be a loyal "conservative" user base. I fondly call them sevenosauruses and they call us TIFKAM fanbois.

Anywho, about the subject at hand; It does sound like Start8 used the File Explorer search rather than the integrated global Bing search, but then again WinKey/F brings up file search in Charms, which logically should be File Explorer search. Using that I found it to be rather much improved. It found words in files even if they were open and will take one to that open file if clicked. It didn't miss a beat performing any kind of search.

The Start Menu has always changed from one edition to the next. They brought it back to appease those that wanted it and rightfully so. They saw fit to incorporate Modern into it, for that fits in with their new paradigm. If one doesn't want tiles on it, then omit them. When it comes to the missing right side, does not right clicking on the Start Flag or WinKey/X bring up the advanced context menu (power user task menu) in the lower-left corner of the screen?

Bottom line is that MS must and I think will pursue their new paradigm of Modern. From what I see I think they are doing a pretty good job of compromising between the old and the new.

Yes, the numbers for 8.x weren't great, although they did and are making profit on it. And remember, just as a farm stand they have other products. Past OSs are like aces up their sleeves. It was a fight at 8F. If one didn't like it then don't use it. What else could we say? The complaining may have helped, but to a company the numbers speak louder.

They brought the Start Menu back. I should think it not to be totally like the last as it's always been. Cannot one tweak it by placing tiles on the right to replace the missing links? Does not right clicking on the Start Flag or WinKey/X bring up the advanced context menu (power user task menu) in the lower-left corner of the screen? If so, how much better is that with more links there? One doesn't need to open CP using that most of the time. BTW, did they add more to that menu?

The biggest changes are bringing back the Start Menu with option to use the Start Screen and the tiling of apps, whether Win32 or Modern and in better combination. Much improved snapping also.
