Hey All. New to the forum and happy to be here. Been an avid follower for some time. I read on BleepingComputer that this update fixed the problem with Outlook search not finding recent emails. I tested and it did for me. Any other experiences? I am curious because I have not seen MS acknowledge this fix or any other posts about it.
Windows update installed 21H2 but kb5010793 is stuck at < 5% install with no errors or indication of activity
VPN still not working and kb5010793 install what are we supposed to do? Ok so let this install play out ... after many minutes the installation finished with kb5010793 unable to be installed

After January's “Patch Tuesday”, I had some issues with my VPN, from time to time with both laptops, so I installed KB5010793... and it made matters worse, for both laptops, I had to uninstall & reinstall the VPN so that they would be working again !!!
What a way to start 2022 !
I followed some other threads on the Internet because KB5010793 refused to install on a WX-Home machine 21H2 ... after doing an advanced diag for updates still nothing ... ended up doing the windoze 10 media reinstall (took over 4 hours) ... once completed, KB5010793 installed and the VPN is now restored ... I think MS needs a Class Action Suit filed against them to STOP releasing GARBAGE updates ... this is the SECOND release that has BROKEN important features with in the last 30 days ... I spent over 8 hours on this one and several days over the shared file OFFICE FIASCO from mid Dec 2021 ... THIS HAS TO STOP!
Welcome to the Windoze Pro league, my friend, where my/many others monthly ritual is to Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect before even dreaming of installing a CU or doing other risky installs
That way if we get a barfy update , restore in 20 minutes or so.
That's all fine and dandy for a single pc ... when dealing with dozens of PCs and relying on Security Updates doing individual backups is NOT in the cards. MS shouldn't be releasing stuff without proper testing ... if the OFFICE RELEASE was TESTED they should FIRE the people that did the TESTING. Further, WHY are the SPECIAL KB's manually released instead of being in the MAINSTREAM updates ... we are being forced to MANUALLY look for and INSTALL these "FIXES" to their "F#%$ups" ... no one is perfect BUT, these last two episodes are downright UNPROFESSIONAL and unbecoming of a company like this.
Customers are their de-facto QA now after they fired most of their QA team several years ago from what I read.
Did you suffer from the "shared networking printer" fiasco CUs late last year?
You have to start testing the CUs before allowing them to get installed on your fleet of PCs.
Ready to jump onto the Windows 11 ship?
I wish you well. These posts will probably vanish soon.
