    So far I got this:

    Attachment 351151

    And twice as well.

(I've not had any such failures for a while!)

But that was with 21H2 enablement package installed (couple of weeks ago). I just got rid of it and am retrying...

EDITED TO ADD: Nope, all the same

    Attachment 351155

    Bit puzzling and troubling...
I would suggest running SFC /scannow in an elevated Command Prompt.

Nope, this is of no use here, see my previous encounter of the same nature back from 2019:

[SOLVED] - Windows 10 - Updates since KB4512508 (Aug CU) end up with 0xe0000100 | Sysnative Forums

I am far more interested in knowing what contributed to this issue exactly: the only thing I'm 100% certain that it happened when Sep CU was installed on my PC.

I can't update to this version, always getting error 0x800f0988. already tried /componentcleanup, wu reset, built-in troubleshoot, even installing .msi file to no avail. any suggestion?

    I'm currently on build 19044.1320 (21H2)
    Welcome to tenforums (TF)!.

I can see that you have tried most of the steps necessary to fix error 0x800f0988 except for the "Removal of additional Languages" explained in the following tut (Fix 3):

How to Fix Update Error 0x800f0988 on Windows 10

If the issue still persists, you can try to disable or uninstall your third-party A-V, if any. I would also disconnect all USB attached devices.

Next, you can go for a Repair Install aka In-place upgrade, after downloading the Build you are actually on right now from UUPDump.net and just follow the instructions from the aforementioned link for Repair Install in order to create the .ISO which you will have to mount and then double-click on the "Setup.exe" to start the repair.

    Really hope this helps!

    Cheers!

I'm running Win10 Home, installed the KB5007186 yesterday and after that I cannot run any program installer. I get the popup notifying do you want to run this program, I select yes the installer starts but within 10 seconds the window just disappears without any error. I briefly noticed the blocked program notification the first time but found no logs about it or a way to unblock. Also nothing reported in the notification center, nothing in blocked apps / Windows Security.

Doesn't matter what installer I run, all behave the same. Have tried to run as admin, removing all app installation limits, developer mode etc.

Uninstalling this KB restores normal behaviour. But yeah, I can't prevent Windows installing it again at some point and also I can't get feature updates before that.

Installed WU KB5007186 on my old laptop just fine. Printers seem OK, tests OK with B/W laser printer. Canon PRO-100 color ink jet lists "Not available on this device" but Canon app reads ink levels so that may be just a fluke.

An update a few weeks ago on this old laptop replaced the MS display driver with one that did not support much beyond stand-alone booting. In particular, it didn't support the laptop's aspect ratio or resolution, and it could not see external displays (like projectors!). I reverted the update and waited for Patch Tuesday, and the printer driver seems to be similar to the one that had been working for some years now, with the odd feature that, on the KVM switch, doesn't see the laptop's display.

I simply went to Microsofts website and upgraded my computer, worked great. My pc is also encrypted with Veracrypt, no problems, software and everything else work fine. Although, I do think the fact that I was enjoying some fine Australian red licorice while upgrading, had a lot to do with it.

Installed WU KB5007186, .NET update KB5006365, driver update for cell phone, and malicious software removal tool on my main Windows computer (ASUS 990FX R2, AMD FX-8370, etc.) with known boot problems. It took a couple of hours to boot. I was thinking that I needed to restore my system disk from backup, but it eventually did come back up. It must have been running a chkdsk /R or dealing with other problems. I've found that Windows RE does not find a BCD on the system disk (bootrec has a "file missing" error and /rebuildbcd declares that no Windows systems have been found, even though bcdedit finds it OK) and don't know how to fix that. But it is up and running fine.

I do not understand anything anymore!

I did the update from Windows update I had the latest version with 21H1 (I don't understand what these abbreviations are?) I am now in 21H2 (why?).

I cannot upgrade to Windows 11 because my processor is not among those enabled for the transition to Windows 11 in fact I checked with the "PC Integrity Check" tool which I then uninstalled because I have to keep the warning: "At the moment, this PC does not meet the minimum system requirements to run Windows 11 ”if the microprocessor CANNOT be changed from the Laptop?

Should I keep this notice for the rest of my life?

Made this update I notice that while before, even several times a day, I always found Windows Defender updates, now they no longer update. Because?

How do you know if I accidentally activated Windows Insider I DON'T WANT or I activated OPTIONAL UPDATES I ALSO DON'T WANT?

In short, I would like to have Windows 10 and enough with the updates until Microsoft decides to grant it, but so I really don't understand if my system is at least updated and safe after this update.

    What should I do?

    Thanks.

    P.S.
Sorry for the translation also because not even the original one is… clearly expressed for my confusion.

You have version 21H2 build 19044.1348. That is the current non-insider version so no need to worry.
