    Windows 11 Microsoft Store now rolling out to Windows 10

    Last Updated: 12 Nov 2021 at 09:45

    Exciting news today, the new Microsoft Store (modern design, support for win32 apps, Disney+ movies and way more) is now available to Windows 10 Insiders!

    We ship to Windows 10 Insiders first to make sure that the app is bug free, it will be published to all Windows 10 users a little later.

    The new Microsoft Store is coming to Windows 10 PCs!!!

    This experience will be rolled out in phases for Windows 10 PC users (non-insiders)! If you don't get the update today, don't worry, it will come to you quickly!

    Does this new Microsoft Store version require you to have a Microsoft Store account to use it?

    How will we get the new store. Will it be through Windows Update or through the current store app?

    On Windows 11 it does, and this new version comes with 11. No new software downloads of any kind without a MS account, not even freebies. You might be able to update existing apps without it, so you'd better download what you want before updating Store. Assuming you mean to update it at all.

    Thanks, so yeah, I'm wondering if it forces a Windows account even when installed on Windows 10 in order to get free apps - which I can do now without any stinkin' Windows account.

    The future looks sad, but take comfort in the fact that most apps worthy of your time still have classic installers.

    @Brink, Hi Shawn ,

    Is there a way to block Windows 11 Microsoft Store app from installing on my PC if it's going to require me to use a Microsoft account to download free apps? Thanks

    It's easier to update using the Windows 10 Store app
