What's the point of these interim updates when the main update is done on Patch Tuesday anyway. I just do one update a month on Patch Tuesday.

It's for MS to test on a wider variety of systems than the Insider channels give.

I updated and as others have found running SFC /SCANNOW produced repairs which haven't been needed for a very long time. There could be a problem in the update if many need repairs.

In addition to what kado said, it is primarily intended for business customers so their IT departments can test them ahead of rolling out the Patch Tuesday update to their users.

    Microsoft said:
These are validated, production-quality optional releases, primarily for commercial customers and advanced users “seeking” updates. These updates have only non-security fixes. The intent of these releases is to provide visibility into, and enable testing of, the non-security fixes that will be included in the next Update Tuesday release...

OK OK OK, so this is weeeeeeeird...... I was installing this but the progress bar would not go on after half an hour of just installing. So I clicked on cancel to cancel the update. It rolled back, I restarted and to my DEAR SURPRISE in my list of installed updates there it was, so it DID install successfully!

MS, you are getting weirder by the hour!
