All running fine on Insider here but come Oct 5 maybe MS will enforce the CPU requirement even though some MS i7 hardware is compatible!!!

Funny old world - a wait and see me thinks.

I am sorry you got me so wrong, Mark. In no way was I criticising anyone for their circumstances or ability to make their own decisions on the OS they choose to use.

The word "doomsayers" was entirely meant to contrast between those telling us that win 11 was going to have lots of bugs and those, who like me, have been insiders for years and enjoy the little challenges we might encounter.

I have absolutely no interest in the decisions of others. Each to their own.

I hope you can see fit to readdress my post in a kinder light.
OK, fine -- you did not mean anything insulting -- I get it.

But it's all to common these days that folks with the money to jump into the latest and greatest have nothing but contempt for those of us that either do not, or choose not to. I'm not a "doomsayer", nor am I a "naysayer" -- from the standpoint of badmouthing folks that DO choose to jump wholeheartedly into Win11. Good for them -- that's something I currently can not afford to do.

My "badmouthing" (if you want to call it that) is of MS requiring all this new hardware without giving folks a simple way to opt-out. I run PCs behind a Router and with firewalls, and none of them have WiFi enabled -- so I see no need for all this added security. Spending the money for that buys me something I feel I do not need. And, I believe that we should be allowed to make that decision and STILL be allowed to run Win11.

But that is only my view.

    Mark,

That comment is rather mystifying. The method of connecting is not significant with regard to Win11. What made you refer to WiFi in that way?

I don't understand your concern. MS is not forcing you to get new hardware. Just continue running any previous version of Windows that you like. It will continue to run until some component breaks. Having them behind a router and firerwall is a good measure but there are still vulnerabilities. If your PC's are internet connected (wired or wifi) then it is prudent to get regular security updates. Users of Win 7 are still getting those from MS.

hope it will receave windows update also if cpu is not supported
i have i5 7400 and beta works without any error
A lot of people with unsupported hardware have tried the Windows 11 beta with no problems. The point Microsoft is making is that during the life of Windows 11 as it evolves they will only be testing it with supported hardware. If at some point someone with unsupported hardware has problems with a Windows 11 update Microsoft will do nothing to address these problems. Hopefully, when that happens this person will simply stop receiving major updates to Windows 11 and not have a major system problems that can only be addressed with a clean install.

If people think about it something similar happened with Windows 10. Some people with older hardware successfully installed Windows 10 on their old computers but at some point the major updates stopped when their hardware was no longer supported. From then on they would have to be satisfied with the Windows build they had and hopefully still receive security updates.

However, the hardware not supported for Windows 11 is much newer than that for Windows 10 when it was released. There are a lot of people with computers only three or four years old that are not officially supported by Windows 11.

Windows 10 will be supported for years so if your PC can't take 11, start to save up now so you can upgrade when the piggy bank is full.

    Hi folks
Why on earth would Ms block the use of VPN's -- if they did that around 65 - 70% of business usage of Windows would become impossible -- I'm not sure how many people would be able to work remotely from Home if VPN's were all blocked !!!

Amazing some of the stuff people are alleging that W11 will require or block -- just wait a couple of weeks and see how it all pans out. The thing that would definitely end it for me would be if the OS had to be encrypted (via TPM usage) -- certainly not on a Home computer -- on a Work machine -- not my problem !!!!!!

Just the other day there were a lot of seemingly serious posts saying W11 hardware would be checked on VM's as well -- that's a mega hard issue to actually enforce if the VM BIOS is able to emulate the required real hardware !!!!!!!.

    Cheers
