Are the rumors that Win 11 will block VPN true?

Why do you feel it necessary to "badmouth" those of us who simply do not have the MONEY to go out and buy a Win11-specific PC?

I provide free "in house IT" to my family and relatives and support around a dozen PCs and laptops, combined. Of these, only ONE passes the current Win11 requirements tests. NONE of the others do.

With the laptops, that means new ones -- which I can not afford and the relatives don't want to spend the money.

With the desktops, it's a new motherboard, processor, and memory -- hundreds of dollars for which it seems they get little more than rounded window corners, a centered new Start menu, and different wallpaper.

I and the others, have looked at Win11 and decided it is not worth the upgrade costs.

That does not make us "doomsayers" -- it makes us practical.
Even if one does have the money - why spend it when current gear works perfectly well

Some of us are even running this OS for some purposes where the application together with its legacy hardware will only work on XP - Hardware is still 100% fine - replacing that would cost a lot of money (vinyl disk cutting machine for making bespoke vinyls from people's music collections) or even creating some Minidiscs as shown in the screenshot -- using a PRO Minidisc recorder (doesn't have DRM which rather made the minidisc a bit of a problem to use - it was so much better than CD's !!).

I am sorry you got me so wrong, Mark. In no way was I criticising anyone for their circumstances or ability to make their own decisions on the OS they choose to use.

The word "doomsayers" was entirely meant to contrast between those telling us that win 11 was going to have lots of bugs and those, who like me, have been insiders for years and enjoy the little challenges we might encounter.

I have absolutely no interest in the decisions of others. Each to their own.

I hope you can see fit to readdress my post in a kinder light.

I will be sticking with Win 10 for the foreseeable future and just running Win 11 in a VM when the official ISO is released next month.

Wouldn't you think if the Beta version has no issues, the final October release would work for you??

I am sure that I heard that the Win 11 October WU to be included prior to Win 11's release is going to be the same October WU offered for Win 10.

Same here on my spare machine running an i7 7 series. All depends whether future updates will be automatic or whether it will be manual install time. Maybe a complete reinstall - not worth it in my case so I'll 'downgrade' that spare rig back to 10.

MS know their intentions but aren't saying so aren't doing themselves any favors in my book.
