"my home PC doesn't meet the requirements (TPM 2.0)." Is in quotes because that's exactly where I am. Can someone give instructions on how to get TPM 2.0 onto our home PC's. I need "K.I.S.S." instructions. Step by step? Or click and go. Morgan Bilbo, Windows 10 vs 21H1.
That may or may not be possible. Without knowing the make, model and processor of your PC it's impossible to say. Only PCs built in the last two or three years are likely to meet all the Windows 11 requirements.
If yours is a recent model then we'd need to know the exact make and model to say if it's possible, and if so provide instructions. Please fill in your profile's system specs here: https://www.tenforums.com/profile.php?do=extra
If your PC cannot upgrade to Windows 11, then all is not lost. Windows 10 is in support until 14 October 2025 and the next feature update, 21H2, is due to be released shortly.
So if 21H2 releases sometime soon, Should i install it on the System that is 100 percent Windows 11 Compatible, or should i just wait for 11 to Release, then do clean install of Windows 11 as planned
Laptop i plan on updating to Windows 10 21H2 soon as available
and other household system
Come the release date Microsoft will start offering the upgrade to W11 through Windows Update on compatible machines. The rollout will be phased so not all machines will see it offered on day one. From the link in post #1:
I wouldn't recommend installing an Insider build of W11 this close to release. I'd say wait until it's released, then maybe wait until it's offered to you.Microsoft said:
Yeah not gonna install an Insider build this close to release, gonna wait either til it's offered--then get the Media Creation tool, and then do clean install as i normally do on big releases
That's the sensible approach.
I've been playing with the Insider builds (courtesy of UUPDump) for a while now on one of my machines. But come the release I'm going to wipe the machine its on, restore a W10 system image, then wait for the real thing to be offered in Windows Update. It's a fully compliant late 2020 laptop, so I don't expect I'll have to wait for long.
