The deal-breaker for me is the minimum system-disk requirement - 64GB of space for the disk... Really? WTF does it need so much space? My current (5x) Windows 10 boxes all have 40GB partitions for the system-disk (currently about 50% space used).

Actually, none of my PCs meet the minimum CPU and TPM requirements anyway. I guess this is the final push I need to finally move over to Linux full-time...

I'll keep one of my systems Win 10 and change the other to Linux Mint (running VirtualBox for any Windows app requirements).

I guess Win10 will be supported until 2025 anyway...

    Cheers,

    Mike.

Like if give 2 shits what MS tolerates and what it doesn't.

As long as there are licenses at normal price i'll be buying. Not paying 200 $ for an idiotic OS.

The only REASON why i keeep using windows is cuz Linux and other OS aren't really great for gaming and they're not all supported.

MS are lucky as hell that no real competitor has shown up with another OS in the past years. If that happened they'd be pissing themselves and selling they're crap OS for 50 $ or less not 200 $.
I agree 100%. If it wasn't for games, I would have probably moved to Linux a long time ago.

Games or not, I wouldn't be able to live and work with Linux only because of lack of needed SW, there's much more to OS than running games. I have Linux Mint in dual BOOT and it's performance is much lower than with W10 or 11, can't use newest HW to full potential and drivers for such HW are either half-a$$ or non existent. For older HW, Linux can be quite good option.

@mingle, you don`t have to install W11 if you don`t want to, there`s no reason.

The sad part is what i'm talking about will probably NEVER happen.

Mainly cuz MS are the BIG PLAYER on the market and whatever competitor actually does show up, they won't have a chance in a hell against this humongous company.

It's sort of like what Steam had happen when Epic Store showed up... only in this case Steam is the "good guy" while Epic just muscled themselves through the market with they're lower profit percentage.

And NO i'm not defending Steam, but i call them the "good guy" mainly because they have a great platform with tons of features and stuff you can do besides gaming. Epic's launcher is the definition of SHIT in my opinion feature-wise.

And of course i prefer as many of my games as possible on ONE platform IF possible that being Steam... who doesn't right ?

Microsoft's only true competitor is Google with their android OS on phones and tablets ( who have 75%+ of the phone OS market) - it's not a direct competitor in a way where users are using android on their PC's and laptops, but they are replacing PCs and laptops with phones and Tablets

Of course apple have taken a wierd novel option in that the M1 chip used in their latest hardware is a Mobile Phone architecture chip, google have also gone a different route Chromebook - running everything in their Chrome Browser

Not sure of Microsoft's actual sales monopoly these days but it's normally around 90%+ of their market and has been for years
