Potentially unwanted apps will now be blocked by default in Windows

Potentially unwanted applications (PUA) are a category of software that can cause your device to run slowly, display unexpected ads, or at worst, install other software which may be more harmful or annoying. PUA isn’t malware, but it is software that you often don’t need and probably don’t want.

In the Windows 10 May 2020 Update we added Potentially Unwanted App blocking for everyone running Windows 10, but customers who wanted to use it still had to turn it on.

Starting in early August 2021 we’ll begin turning it on by default to make it easier for you to keep your systems performing at their best. If you’d like to turn it off, or back on, for any reason you can do so by going to the Windows Security app > App & browser control > Reputation-based protection.

Is there any way to find out what the app is that Windows wants to block?

As explained at the "For more information see ..." link above:

What happens when PUA is detected?

When Windows Security detects a potentially unwanted app you'll get a notification encouraging you to take action on it.

Click on the notification to go to the Virus & threat protection area of Windows Security, then click on the name of the PUA to select the action to take.

Would that it were that simple. Here's what I see in App & browser control
Potentially unwanted apps will now be blocked by default in Windows-image.png

    And when I click Review
Potentially unwanted apps will now be blocked by default in Windows-image.png

As you can see, it doesn't show the name of the app it wants to block.

When I click that I see a message that says "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device". I do not want to allow that until I know what it is going to do.

I suspect that it noticed a program that is stored on my network drive and used occasionally on one of the other computers. It is harmless but Windows Security doesn't like it and deleted it once before and I had to find it again when I needed it so I don't want it to do that again.
BUT if it found something else that is potentially harmful I want to know what it is and probably get rid of it.

The changes it refers to are any that you make with it after that warning.
